RE: Nine Out of Every 10 Silicon Valley Jobs Pays Less Than In 1997, Report Finds
California has been driving the middle class and upper middle class away for years. You either need to make a lot of money or be government subsidized to be able to live there in most cases.

I was hosting it myself for awhile but the server went bye bye during some shit I was experiencing... @aaronstuder bought the domain so it as under someone's control and not out for the public as a kindness to me, unprompted. I've been meaning to get back to it. I'm sad because I didn't have a backup of all the articles I wrote...so I lost all that work...
Wow!
Yeah, some of my articles were not great, but I had some I was really proud of...sad to have lost all that work. Lesson learned: keep a separate copy somewhere else of everything you write. A separate portfolio.
My next WordPress article is going to be about creating free, automatic backups to your Google Drive.

FREE AND EASY WAY TO BACKUP WORDPRESS TO YOUR GOOGLE DRIVE
Original Blog Post: http://joelradon.com/free-and-easy-way-to-backup-wordpress-to-your-google-drive/
I have been in IT for over 12 years now, and I have learned many times how important it is to keep good backups. You may say I don't need backups because my hosting company does them for me. NEVER TRUST ANYONE TO KEEP BACKUPS FOR YOU. Why risk losing all your hard work and possibly alot of lost revenue for something that is so simple to setup.
Ok now that you understand the importance of backups let's talk about how you can backup your WordPress site for free to your Google Drive.
Install the Updraft Plus Plugin for WordPress
Since we are talking about backups, I am going to assume that you are technical enough to install a WordPress plugin. You can find it located here.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/
Setup a Google API Project
Go here and login with your Google Account
https://console.developers.google.com/Create a new project. We will call our project Wordpress Backup
Now we need to enable the Drive API. You can see that right on the home screen after creating a new project.

http://joelradon.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/2016-07-27_17-03-48.png
Now that the Drive API is enabled go to Credentials
http://joelradon.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/2016-07-27_17-06-02.png
Fill out the credentials as follows:
http://joelradon.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/2016-07-27_17-07-43.png
Now before we fill out the next section we will need to go to our WordPress site and find the Authorized redirect URI
http://joelradon.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/2016-07-27_17-10-03.png
Once you have that you can paste it over here and continue creating your credentials.
http://joelradon.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/2016-07-27_17-12-31.png
Make sure your email is correct and create a name. I just used UpdraftPlus
http://joelradon.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/2016-07-27_17-12-52.png
You will now see your Client ID and have an option to download your credentials. You do not need to do this so just select to do it later.
http://joelradon.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/2016-07-27_17-13-44.png
Once you return to the Credentials Screen select the credentials you just create and it will show your Client ID and Client Secret.
http://joelradon.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/2016-07-27_17-14-11.png
Next paste this into UpdraftPlus and hit save (For some reason I had to paste and save twice)
http://joelradon.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/2016-07-27_17-14-42.png
Now that you saved your new settings, you need to authorize your WordPress site to access your Google Drive.
http://joelradon.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/2016-07-27_17-20-45.png
Authorize the site

Setting up Automatic Backups
http://joelradon.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/2016-07-27_17-24-30.png
With the free version we can't control the time of day we backup, but we can tell our site to backup on a schedule. I have my files set to backup weekly and my database set to backup daily. Most of the time you make changes to your site you are simply making database changes. You can set more a more frequent backup schedule if you like, but this seems to work for me.
Congratulations you are now setup for automatic backups to your Google Drive. Go ahead and start a manual backup now. Once the backup is complete you will see a folder on your Google Drive called UpdraftPlus. This contains your backups.

RE: Chopping off their own feet....
SW is still valuable and I dont see myself going away from it completely.
My only complaint about Mangolassi is the lack of questions, which of course stems from a lack of users.

@IRJ I agree with @thwr - the pi3 will run an OS nicely, the zeros are more for dumb automated tasks where you don't need a gui, just SSH.
Not to say you can't with the zero, just that you'll wish you didn't.
I plan on creating a portable VPN router out of a zero.

RE: Pearson Vue has no record of my exam
I still have not heard from Pearson Vue, but I decided to check the MCP site. It is now showing my exam as passed and I am officially a MCSA 2012

Chuwi Hi8 7 month review update
I just want to update my review on the Chuwi Hi8 Android/ Windows 10 tablet that I bought back in March.
https://mangolassi.it/topic/8497/new-low-cost-toy/62?page=1
After using this device for the first few months I felt like it was a great device for the price. As I started using it less, Windows 10 updates kept coming and made usability a real pain. The tablet comes with only about 6GB free space on the Windows install. You can add a SD card, but you cannot use the SD card in both android and windows since the formatting is different if you use Apps2SD to move all your apps to SD.
For the past few months I have been just using it as android tablet. Once in awhile I will boot up to Windows and just be swarmed with updates to the point where I don't even want to use the tablet anymore.
Was it worth the $90? Yeah I think so. At a minimum it is a great android tablet for the price. It isn't a bad thing to be able to boot to Windows 10 in certain scenarios, but if you plan on doing any type of mobile work make sure you update before leaving the house.

Cost effective European Areas/Cities
I am getting married next year and would like to go to Europe for a honey moon. I would like to find a cost effective location because my fiance' and are very budget minded. We would rather enjoy scenery than the tourist areas.

I completed 10 out of 11 Capture the flag style challenges. I am still battling the last one, but I have completed enough to pass already.

RE: ML Looks great
Unsolved posts, category sections, and the new social profiles are all a nice touch. I also think the Xbyte ad makes the site look more professional.

RE: old MSP won't give up domain name
Honestly instead of threating legal action, I would try to negotiate with the old MSP. Offer to pay for the remaining term of the domain name and see if they release it. ($100 or so).
I seriously would offer them money right off the bat. Sometimes it is worth paying a ransom to get out of a bad situation. Now you move on and have no reason to deal with them again.

As a strong conservative Christian, I especially have to shake my head when reading those conversations. That Brendan guy is doing nothing to support his cause. What a moron. Can't say I agree with Rob at all, but he sure is right with regards to every comment that was made. Hilarious... and sad, like, for the whole human race.
I am a libertarian so I am somewhat in the middle politically. The fact of the matter is that you can find people with low IQs on both sides of the political spectrum. They generally tend to be extreme on both sides of the spectrum because they blindly believe what they are told by their political party leaders or biased news source.

What products has Symantec bought and killed?
A coworker and I were discussing all the products that went to shit after symantec bought them.
So far BackupExec, Ghost, and Sygate firewall come to mind. I know there are many more. Everything that company touches turns to sh**

RE: Family Guy or South Park?
FG is humor that fits everyone.
Rarely do you find a show that is for libertarians, and I think that is main reason I absolutely love Southpark. Seeing Conservatives and Liberals getting trashed every other week brings joy to me. Every other show I have seen tends to either lean as liberal (majority) or conservative.
