Made some DNS changes in my lab and the AD replication is much cleaner and healthy now.

Did you put the _msdcs.domain.com stuff directly beneath 'forward lookup zones' in the DNS tool, with a greyed out folder in domain.com that's named _msdcs, or did you populate that folder as a sub from domain.com?

Our users have no idea how to maintain a file server or use things for their intended purpose so I want to establish a policy immediately when this thing goes live so if their files are deleted it's their own problem

You could, instead. secretly archive the files and store them someplace offline so that they THINK that they deleted them.

I see you're a graduate from the Hillary Clinton School of Technology.

Here's how to do the same thing in powershell: http://www.networknet.nl/apps/wp/published/powershell-delete-files-older-than-x-days

      find /path/to/files -mtime +5 -exec rm {} ;*
That line would delete files older than the specified number of days.

      Very helpful. Thank you.

No worries. Had to mine my twitter account to find it. 😄

Wegmans sells the mix for those! You just need shredded cheese and butter. And an egg. And having made them several times personally, WORTH IT!

you can do it with bisquick too.

This is the actual, official Red Lobster mix though, with the seasoning packets, etc

I cheat with bisquick, but i suggest you learn to cook. http://altonbrown.com/southern-biscuits-recipe/

It's like the third world there!

      Nah - we still have:

      • Power
      • Water (just can't drink directly)
      • DirecTV
      • Internet
      • Working WiFi

I see what you did there.

    • RE: Gaming - What's everyone playing / hosting / looking to play

This weekend, I upped the max level on dinos in our Ark server to 350. This is up from 150 on the old instance, and 16 on the new instance. Since I was on the new instance (and why I had noticed it), I logged in afterward to get my ass handed to me by several dinos and lost a Jerboa along with 2 Morellatops. 😞

So, I buckled down and tamed a new m'tops (a 180th) and a new velociraptor (40th). Sadly, I now realize that the new levels mean adjusting the taming multiplier because it taks forever to tame the higher level creatures. C'est l'vie.

My lady just bought a whole goose to cook this weekend. Never had goose, can't wait.

I hope it's been defeathered. That's the worst part of cooking birds.

Lunch was some lovely sesame marinated lean pork over rice. But dinner last night was some grilled alpaca tenderloin. Highly recommended if you can find it. So tender and delicious.

Alpaca? Interesting. Management has been trying to find something more exotic to sell to their customers. Beef, pork, and chicken can only get so much buzz.

My chef neighbor found many exotic, farm-raised meats at a local specialty shop. Alpaca, water buffalo, bison, rabbit, etc. And if you have a Sprouts store near you, they often carry ostrich meat.

Alpaca can best be described as a cross between grass fed beef and pork. Light flavored and so tender, but still red. We cooked this to medium well and it was juicy and fork tender. I don't think you could overcook it.

busy morning, but things have slowed down.

Same here for a while, was scrambling to get data off this laptop so the dev could work from home (sick). But now that he's got his data to go (most of the 5gb was personal pictures, which I should have scolded him about), the hurry is over.

Personal Photos huh... Yep... he could have waited... tough lesson to learn...but sometimes you have to teach it.

      Roughly 10 years ago:
User: "Could you please copy my files to my new notebook?"
Me: "Sure. Anything you don't want me to see?"
User: "Nope, just a few family pics"

I've noticed a very large file in the copy dialogue... 4GB ISO file, something about nurses. And it wasn't exactly what I would call a medical training video.

Maybe setting a screenshot of the "nurses" as his desktop background would curtail such behavior...
