Have you looked into moving that repetitive code into a function?

      https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/microsoft.powershell.core/about/about_functions?view=powershell-7

I did. I'm not sure if the other aspects of the script get passed in to the function. Environment settings, etc.

If I have a set of tasks that I usually call as a foreach($x in $y){stuff} and I want to call that same section later in the script, can I? I don't want to have to copy/paste it several times since it just looks messy and barely elevates the ps1 from a bat file at that point.

I was an idiot and forgot to take my special pain meds last night before bed, so of course I woke up in agony and am paying for it today in lost sleep, hypersensitivity and some awesome burning pain. I think I'll take the Serious Pain killer now. ugh.

DragonQuest is my all time favorite game series.

I have a friend that adores that game. She has a 4 foot tall slime plush. She began streaming last years. Check her out on Twitch as SerAvium.

That is still on my list of things to do....

DO NOT watch the M. Night Shymalan movie. It's a poorly written, worse-acted, horrible excuse of a movie. The CGI is the best part and you can tell they cheaped out it on that. Plus, since it just retells the same story as the series, you miss nothing by watching it, and the series is complete; the movie ends like the writers thought they were going to get a trilogy. They're not Peter Jackson!

      Murder She Wrote

      Why?

I love that show! And I'm getting it from YOU!

Ok, but I got it for my 83 year old mother in law that firmly believes in not watching any television show made after 1989. She also has the same hair that the main character has in Murder. Did you know that the salons specifically call that cut the 'old lady' hair?

Does she also want Love Boat, because I do 😉

      Oh fuck.

      Excellent question

To be clear, I'm not kink-shaming. I'm just confused about that particular choice versus something like Knight Rider. Also, are you going to binge watch the series? I watched all of the Last Airbender recently (first time) on suggestions from the Internet and I was not disappointed. Is there a story across all of the Murder episodes?

      Rebuilding WSUS...

How often do you have to rebuild yours? Seems it works for anywhere between 3-6 months before borking itself here.

This 2019 install lasted about a year.

Did you do a SQL install? If it's a large environment, you'll want that, and then do the AdamJ script as directed.

anybody have Advice on actually getting decent sleep?
for the last 2 days i got a total of 8hours of sleep and I can't keep doing only 4 hours a night..

I bought a new sleep number bed 5/18. It's been good for me. I like that it adjusts for firmness when I move from a side to back position, keeping my spine straighter. It's really helped.

Is there a way to get the files in use and/or processes attached for a specific datastore? I need to reformat it but cannot unmount or otherwise delete this datastore due to "file system is busy" errors.

My Surface is one of the Samsung 123L01 models and it's just begun to exhibit the flickergate symptoms. Because it was in my saddlebag when I crashed, the screen is cracked and it's really too old to care much about any more, so I've got to replace the whole thing. Upgrade time! In like, 4 months. Bleh.

I'm saddled with a surface right now. The thing would be a decent mobile solution, but they chose the slowest possible HDD when they made these models (I think it's a 2). Totally ruins an otherwise okish experience. They're still priced like a high-end thing, so 100% do not recommend.

I'm on the opposite end of your experience. I had a 1 and a 2. I had been using an old Dell that weighed somewhere in the metric fucktons and moving to the 1 was a dream. I did all my Spiceworks training off it and the two. I migrated to the 4 a few years ago, and bought my wife the 3 a little before that. All were/are great machines. Even now, my surface with the screen flicker still works (if I keep it cool). I think your purchasing department may have made some poor decisions if you got the base model, which is absolutely an underperformer and no one should get that. You can get some really good cpu and drive combos in the current line, and they perform well in the ᵗᶦⁿᶦᵉˢᵗ form factor. I have no problems using my surface on a plane where others may struggle. If you're expecting a gaming machine, then you need to go big with the surface laptop, which has a discrete video card. Otherwise, I would say you and others that use the systems (VDI, Surface, iPads, Pi) always find something to complain about because it doesn't meet whatever needs you think you have. In reality, you're using a system and getting the job done, even if you feel that the extra i/o is impacting your 30 ms of work day.

Just got approved to order a 10TB Helium filled HDD to store our games on, lol.

Approved? as in you looked in a mirror and say - "you're approved"?

      I'm not the approver 😉

He had to spend money over a certain amount and his CFO/wife needed to sign off on the PO.

Seems like such an odd thing, his spending power is seemingly low 😛

There's probably a lot of spend in unnecessary areas like headcount.
