FTFY, dumb sounds like you can't learn it.

      Semantics!

"Lazy" would probably be the most accurate word. Or "time-limited", were I to spin it more flatteringly. But yeah. Greylog is much more WYSIWIG, which satisfies all of the above criteria.

Don't feel dumb. I find the vSphere web client pretty freakin' unintuitive myself.

Sounds unfortunate. Without anything in writing there's not much that can be done, and for such a (relatively) small amount, it probably wouldn't be worth it anyway. Call it a lesson learned.

the secure enclave is the only thing that matters - and iOS tells the secure enclave to erase itself after 10 bad tries.

Right, it's accessing it without iOS that I'm expecting.

the problem with that is that the (and I'm guessing here) secure enclave won't respond to an attempt that's not signed by Apple's private key or some other key that would be unique - but I guess if that exists in iOS, then the FBI could extract that somehow..

That's my guess. Pretty much, physical access always means that you can get to the data. It might be a huge pain, but I find it likely that they will find a way.

Yep, and designers of chips will continue to try to find ways to make those breakdown solutions work.

It's like the hackers who hacked Blu Ray players to get the key for blu ray encryption...

And then walk away from the game due to ferocious litigation

How funny - they talked about this on Security Now! a few weeks ago when this happened, and again this week.

The developers of the software live in a different country/different laws from where Slysoft was - and the devs have stood up a new service for this project.

Didn't know that. I was surprised to see that China-based DVDFab was abandoning plans to pursue next-gen Blu-Ray decryption as well.

That is surprising... is the Chinese government actually considering joining the rest of the first world with regards to piracy?

"The rest of the world" might be a bit strong. I think you'll fine the US and EU to be the outliers here, not the mainstream.

What other first world is there?

      Quite a bit.

Don't forget if you're using multiple hosts you will want to mirror the vSwitch config across all hosts in order to maintain vMotion mobility.

You should just need to create it on the vSwitch and add it to the trunk on the physical switch. Unless you're trunking multiple VLANs to the Ubuntu server, it should be ignorant of the fact that there's a VLAN at all.

Curious to see how the mixed drive cluster works out. FWIR it's supported but not "recommended". I'm sure it'll be great, just kinda curious to see how it goes for ya.

I snap my site to Dropbox like 3 times a day just because. It's great.

I have it set to just a month right now. This site isn't particularly huge. Entire archive is under 400MB. It's pretty static so I don't need long term retention. But I just love how UpdraftPlus just works. The email notifications are a nice peace of mind as well.

What kind of battery life are you seeing out of that thing?

I need to do an overall review on the device. The battery is a weakness. I have seen around 4 hours in most scenarios and 5 being very careful.

It also takes the tablet longer than average to charge.

Is that true of just the stock charger, or have you tried it with other higher-wattage chargers also?

Interesting. We have one of the little Dell W8.1 Atom tablets, looks to be about the same size, but we had a hard time coming up for a use case for it. It got passed around the department like a $3 hooker and now nobody wants to touch it. I gave it the nickname Satan's Tablet because everyone who tried it seems to be cursed by bizarre issues. It has since been cast into the Intern's Drawer of Tartarus, which cannot be opened for 1,000 years, at which point it will be let free to plague humanity. On the upside, its Windows Updates should be finished right around that time.

Anyway, maybe THIS $99 Windows tablet would be different better usable not haunted?

My buddy came over a few nights ago and I showed him my tablet and he played with it for over an hour. He says it runs circles around his $350 Dell tablet.

My manager just popped in my office for something and I kept that Amazon page conspicuously open and maximized on my 27" display while we chatted. After he noticed it he immediately got all hot and bothered and said ORDER IT!

So I'll report back tomorrow (thanks Prime!) with my findings on whether or not this thing turns out to be Satan's Chinese cousin.

We are using Dells. @art_of_shred or @Mike-Ralston would have to tell you which models, they have physical access to them.

Interested in the model numbers. I am pushing for some Extreme switches and have been planning an upgrade and expansion for about a year including the, "It is going to be about $25K-30K" remarks several times to my boss. Get it all ironed out and just under the 30K mark after some back and forths with the vendor and Extreme and then I get the, "Wow. That is a lot more than I thought." when submitting the proposal. Waiting to hear back from the owner next week. Might have to go back to the drawing board.

Not sure what your requirements are, but my shortlist of 10GbE switches for our baby VSAN project is:

      • Dell N4032
      • HP FlexFabric 5700
      • Juniper EX4550

I was excited about the Brocade ICX/VDX stuff but I read lots of buggy firmware horror stories and the port licensing model for 10GbE really made the price jump (note- I did not run that through any major vendors to see how much padding is in those license prices)

Yes, Cisco stuff is conspicuously absent from my list. I don't particularly trust the 3850X for storage switching and the Nexus stuff gets pricey fast, plus I just don't like Cisco much. But I am no storage switching expert so take my thoughts with, like, a hogshead worth of salt.
