Anyone else notice the quality of SOHO or even low end pro routers/wireless routers has gone to hell? They all seemed to have bought into really cheap firmware for the routers, and poor wireless radios. I have been through Linksys, Netgear, and Belkin. It is all junk. I recently picked up a Buffalo WZR-600DHP and I love it. I had yet another Netgear router go bad and was dropping wireless users at random. Anything streaming media was being interrupted - etc. The Buffalo router seems to have fixed all the problems, and I have excellent signal. When I was looking for a replacement, I went through reviews on Amazon and Newegg (among others) and the major brands were all getting poor reviews. Even the latest Negear Pro gear was getting bad reviews for dropping wireless. I still like the Netgear switches for cost/performance in lower end applications / offices, but I am thinking Buffalo is poised to take the market away from all these guys. And they are pretty cheap for what you get. Anyone try out their NAS products yet?

I wonder if they will address the Office 2013 IMAP issues. There is a thread in the Microsoft forums that is pages long. Microsoft never bothered to reply to it even. Everyone in the thread worked together to find work arounds. It is mostly turning off all the bloatware features in the plug-in's.

How long ago did you update the Cert? I am assuming that was the last thing you did tot he system. I had one recently that even though it said it updated, it did not actually update. Removed the certificates (including verifying all old certificates were gone), added them back in. Check bindings.

I guess it is just saying we are just bullshitting anyway. lol It's like the Motel 6 comercial - we'll keep a fan on! lol

I think you are right on the money with this. I started using RAID 10 single arrays more last year and the payoff has been great for clients.

I have a new website that may need to scale fairly quickly. The website will have a database for information people are submitting through a secure back end, but other users will be searching the posted information. It is tough to tell how quickly the site will need to expand, so that brought me to my question. Initially I figure we can start out with one web server with both the database and web front end, however, I was not sure how to calculate capacity planning and scaling in such a way that it would be easy to scale as the need arises. Knowing the site will scale, it may make more sense to break the database into another server right away. The next question then becomes tracking web and database server load, and deciding the best way to handle the increased load. Is it multi-front end, and having the database sync from server to server. Would it make sense to increase resources on each server first (CPU, RAM, high output disk). Looking at the cost increase for certain features it almost seems to make sense to break out into multiple boxes much more quickly. This would be my first multi-server environment. The servers will be Linux (Ubuntu), with most likely a MySQL database. Also, any thoughts on scaling MySQL, or is there a better alternative that will scale better?

Yeah- crockpot stuff rocks! Unless you have to work near it and smell it all day.
