From the live CD, this is what it wants to create when I do a custom setup and delete all partitions.

      I hate this default layout.

I would delete the /home partition and then set / to 500Gb and then click update. it will resize it down to max.

This is a server. There is no reason to have a separate /home like this.

It was for a spare workstation at a customer location in a spare office, I am going to be in and out helping a lot and dont want to leave my laptop there.

But I agree and hate the layout, and I am started to think its just a POS ThinkCenter that isnt going to work.

I actually tried to installed Fedora on a spare Intel Server they had with a SR1200BTS but the mouse and keyboard literally will move only every 10 seconds. I flashed the BIOS to 2018 March release but it didnt help so I grabbed the ThinkCenter.

@bigbear - Duplicati is a free option for backing up to B2. I have not personally used it with B2 but seems to be very flexible with various storage platforms.

      https://www.backblaze.com/blog/duplicati-backups-cloud-storage/

I do use duplicati with B2 for it's target storage. Works great.

What type of file server are you running?

It's NextCloud on my home lab box. So really... nothing. Maybe 500MB worth of things to actually back up.

If you run nextcloud as a premise server can it serve as a bad to thr local network? Or only accessed via sync tool?

You can use it as the only on-premise file server if you want. Everything can access it via webdav now, and you can tie it into any AD or OpenLDAP domains already on site. Just makes end-user life that much easier. If setup properly, it's always accessible via a website anyway. The sync client is really the most painful way to access it, honestly.

      Wow my typos....

So you can use it as a NAS/File Server and it does file locking etc like a windows file server?

You also might want to check SATA mode for your SATA ports in bios/uefi.

Data ports have ahci/ide/raid options. ide and achi have no impact, will have to pick up in the morning on this

You know I think Sata is set to IDE mode because I remember seeing that in the bios when changing boot order...

This post sounds familiar except I wasn’t trying to dual boot anything.

I just uswd the same live usb stick to wipe a windows 10 laptop with now issue so far after several reboot.

Waiting for net install cd to complete to see if I still have the same issue, then will try commands above from sudo -i since root no longer has a password?

@bigbear You can hit alt+arrow key right to get to a root prompt with the installer? Or get to a root prompt at all?
      If so,
      https://www.axllent.org/docs/view/erase-your-mbr/
This should wipe out things to get you a fresh start.

Is this with the net installer CD?

Burning an actual CD right now but not sure if it will be the same as the live USB stick I was already using. Thought if its "net install" it should be different.

Will give some of the suggestions above a try.

@bigbear Try adding nomodeset to the boot parameters.

I added that temp to make sure it wasnt a video issue. I feel like its a MBR issue the more I google around. Most posts I find our from Fedora 6 though. I thought my second install would have wiped out any of those problems though.

    • Blinking Cursor on Fresh Fedora 28 Install after reboot

I made a Fedora 28 Live USB stick and booted up, wiped hard drive data and installed a fresh copy on a spare system. Rebooted and all is well.

Later I reboot without the USB drive and I am greeting with a flashing cursor. Rebooting with the USB drive in doesnt get me back in.This was a spare system that had Windows 7 and was updating to Windows 10. I selected automatic for drive setup and to reclaim all space.

So I did another install and manually deleted the partitions prior to create a new volume, installed/rebooted with USB stick and... blinking cursor again.

Im sure somehow Windows 7 MBR and GRUB is screwed up but cant figure it out. Windows should be gone. I havent done a 28 install or a 27 install, its a been a while. Any ideas?

So at this point I would assume a clean install of FreePBX 14 with Asterisk 14 is recommended?

I've had better luck with Asterisk 15.

      So FreePBX14 with Asterisk 15?

      That's what we are using.

Yes, FreePBX 14 with Asterisk 14 is what I have everywhere.

I was thinking this. 14 and 14. Have you used FreePBX14 with asterisk15 in production?

yes, check the integration partners product list
other providers I'm aware of are not as competitive as.

So they dont include a Windows Server backup tool, you have to select/purchase a partner tool?

they do not, it's just the cloud storage. Someone like CloudBerry makes the tools. Or veeam.

      AAAhhhhhh

So what then do you recommend? lol

Use CloudBerry, Veeam, your own script, anything you want.

Any idea what they charge for Cloudberry per month for their managed backup product. Single server?

I dislike calling for pricing 💊

The product you'd want, Linux to B2 backup tool, is $80.

Were you referring to a Veeam product or Cloudberry?

      CloudBerry

Arent you a big Veeam fan? Any recommendation as such?

Same product work for Windows Server 2012 if they stick with that initially?

Their Windows product is $120. 50% price premium tax for using an OS that guarantees to them that you have deep pockets for the workload.

I would like to reload them, I am just not sure what distro I would want to use. Prefer RHE but no time to purchase as I will be gone after Friday, and no media.
