    • HDD is not detected

      Hi,

My 6 TB HDD fell, its mounted on a SIIG HDD reader. Now it cannot be detected, i can only hear or feel small vibration from the HDD. The SIIG can read other SSD that i put but not the 6 TB. I can also hear a small noise in the HDD that something is dislocated inside.

I'm hoping to read the HDD as it was before as the file is behind Truecrypt partition then truecrypt container.

I have around 100 GB of important data that I stupidly forgot to backup to secondary SSD.

What are my options to recover the data and estimate cost? I'm willing to spend if needed.

    • Connection lost

      Hi,

We encounter issue where we will lost connection for 5 to 15 minutes. We noted the issue on 2 offices using WIFI. When i encounter it, i usually switch to UTP cable connection.

How to check the issue and what causes it? for now we are running software that records connection lost using ping. We able to document the connection lost but where to go from here?

    • how your IT department approach a request?

how your IT Department approach a request?

when the boss request for a computer for a department, does it mean you need to install all possible requirements attach to it. Like printers, credit card machine, all possible computer related that you can think of that link to that "computer request'? or you only install what is specifically requested to install?

I feel if the boss who is fault finder, you most likely always fall short as the request is not specific and there's plenty of room to find a fault.

      what do you think?

i feel the detailed IT request form should cover my ass instead of allowing the approach above.

We have 2 AD, worst case scenario is i lost them both. i can always restore backup VM and be up in less than 4 hours. correct?

For now, the consultant will provide support for outages. Since we are using VM and with backup AD, is it safe to say that we should be able to restore the service in 4 hours from latest VM backup regardless of what AD worst case scenario we may encounter?

ohh...the AD is new and clean for now. My estimate is that user add/remove/revision/mapping are the changes that might happen in a year. If we get an issue or conflict with those changes. I assume the fix will be very easy and you can even delete a user and create one if needed. the time needed to fix it should be minimal. Am i correct?

    • Server Support

      Hi,

We will be getting services of a consultant to support AD server VM running on Hyper V. What are the usual practice in terms of outage support and number of hours to restore service?

How many hours are needed to fix mis-configuration or conflict in AD?

What other issues that usually occurs and how long should we allow the consultant to fix the issue?
