Pascal Still Alive?

So it came up on another forum that I visit sometimes that someone recommended using Object-Pascal for a project and pointed to the Lazarus project for an open source, completely free, cross platform IDE that would let you do modern development with Pascal. I've known about this project for years but was unaware that it was doing so well and that people were really using it.

Has anyone looked at or played with Pascal or Lazarus recently? Anyone found it to be useful? Definitely looks interesting. Not something that I need today, but an interesting tool to consider for the ol' toolbelt.
