ZDNet Says Open Source Has Won, Time to Move On
-
After two and a half decades of heated debate that might feel like it is almost new but truly has defined the second half of the computer era, is it really time to step back and realize that we don't need to fight anymore? Open source really has triumphed and not just a little, but dramatically. Linux, alone, dominates the operating system space and there are no major players left that don't embrace open source. Microsoft, Apple, Oracle, IBM... everyone associated with enterprise closed source software is an open source believer. Windows isn't open itself, yet, but it is getting closer and the differences smaller. The idea that open source isn't the future of software and isn't the answer is honestly, long over.

I especially like the idea that Windows desktops are heading towards becoming just an app that runs on Linux.

That would be a-door-able.
