Issue in Installing New VM Machine
-
I am having the Elementary OS DVD with me.
I have installed the VMware Workstation in my laptop.
My DVD Drive is not working.
I need to install the OS from that DVD to my VMware Workstation. The DVD was got from Opensource magazine.
There are about three OS are present in the same DVD.
Two OS are in ISO format and the Elementary OS is in bootable format.
I need to make the Elementary OS only in the ISO format.
How to do this?
Any softwares are present to convert the bootable CD to ISO format? -
Hi Lakshmana download Elementary OS from their site found here.
And boot it from a USB drive or use an ISO burner to burn it to dvd.
-
I having the internet of Less MB only.So I prefer to get the ISO's from some magazine.
So I can't download from internet so far. -

This would be a pretty big issue for trying to load the OS from a DVD. You need to address this first.
-
There is one DVD in that 3 OS are present.
There are two OS which are present in the ISO folder to copy and the Elementary OS which is present as Bootable.
When I try to install in another system the OS is able to boot from the CD Drive -
So you have a non-working DVD drive, but you need to copy the Elementary ISO off of this disc to create bootable media.
Do you have any friends that have a working DVD burner that you can copy the media from?

@scottalanmiller I have address the issue in my DVD drive where the lens has issue in it.so the DVD drive is not working

@DustinB3403 Yes I am having the DVD burner.
I have copied the whole content as such in the 16 GB Pendrive to boot into VMware but it does not boot from the OS -

That's going to be tough. If that doesn't work, how will you read the disc?
-
@scottalanmiller I tried to read the disk in my Desktop of my friend which is working properly. But the Desktop is 32 Bit Architecture so it cant able to install the OS in VMware Workstation.Since My OS is 64 Bit OS
-
To make an ISO file from the ISO disc that you have, just do this command on Linux...
dd if=/dev/cdrom of=/path/to/cdcopy.iso
-
I am using Windows 8 Machine in my laptop now

Ah ha, this is making more sense. So you have access to a working drive but need to convert the ISO disc to an ISO file so that you can move it to your own machine.
Calling it ISO format was adding to the confusion as that is what a DVD is. The term ISO format refers to the filesystem on the DVD itself.
-
@Lakshmana Why are you trying to run the VMWare installer on your friends system?
Are you simply trying to test the OS?
-
Yes,I need to test the OS.
-
I believe he is just working on a few different OSes so that he can learn more about them and build his resume.

@scottalanmiller I need to convert the Bootable CD into ISO format
