I see that Microsoft is killing off Sharepoint Foundation, so there will no longer be a free version.

That's mostly surprising. I did not realize that they were doing that. Is it not coming out in the 2010 version?

I'm guessing it is because of Office 365's per user pricing and too many small companies skipping that for Foundation.

You mean 2016? No, that's what I've just read. Foundation 2013 will be the last and final version.

LOL, um, yes. I guess 2010 is in the past now. Wow.

many people have been suggesting since 2011 that Microsoft plans to just kill off Sharepoint at some point and possibly replace it with something else.

That's very surprising given their massive push for it and investment in it.

All installed and working. Pretty painless in the end. Now I've just got to start using it and get it configured with Dynamics.

I have a client deployment in few days, a 3 tier farm, (2WFE, 2APP, 2SQL- AlwaysON) Waiting for them to share the details to start the installation. Tested on my lab and all seems to be straight forward and hope to have the same smooth setup there as well 🙂
