I'm getting my book today after work and plan on going through it to study for the 70-410 exam, which would be my first MS exam ever. I've put it off too long and it's just something I need to do as I feel like I've lost relevance without it.

So, my question is has anyone used this book or have a suggestion on how to effectively study / prepare? TBH, I'm on a shoestring budget, don't really have enough equipment to really have a good home lab (yet) but I do have a computer with 2012 R2 installed and running at home. Everything else I try to sneak in at work on my workstation using VirtualBox (HP z420 workstation, very nice 🙂 ). I'm more interested in hearing from those who have passed it or any 2012 exam and what they thought of it.

@Bill-Kindle that's a good book for learning but definitely get the MSPress curriculum book too. Different approaches and depth.

@scottalanmiller Is that the exam ref or the actual book? I've been a little hesitant to purchase it because I wasn't sure which one was actually a good book. I'm also trying to use pluralsight now too.

I can't find the other portion at the moment but there is a Student book I found:

I just passed 70-410 a little over a week ago. I used KnowledgeNet for training because my employer paid for it. I liked it alot.

Bill there was R2 Questions on my exam, but none of them were related to any new R2 features. I am not sure when they are going to change the exam.

Were they very long questions or pretty pointed? I've been looking for a decent practice engine but can't seem to find the Transcender or similar ones. The ones on Play look suspect.

@Bill-Kindle They are long convoluted typical MS Questions, but The material is fairly simple.

I used Visual Cert Exam for testing. I think I paid like $20 for it 10 years ago
