@nadnerb said in Random Thread - Anything Goes: Also "We can't tell the difference between an Armored Personal Carrier and a Main Battle Tank." Only country that's every done a combination of the two is Israel, and that one only had room for 4 people besides the tank crew. One of these things is not like the other.

Here's an easy guide to assist you in deciding whether or not you can punch a Nazi...

@rojoloco said in Random Thread - Anything Goes: Here's an easy guide to assist you in deciding whether or not you can punch a Nazi... pretty sure that that is codified in law in Germany.

Unfortunately, people tend to forget that nazi is short for nationalism, and there's a ton of US nationalists, including El Presidente.

@Grey the general understanding of the term equates to a person who hates everyone that isn't the same as them.

Nazi is actually national socialism which is quite a bit more specific than nationalism. Not arguing the merits or criticism, just pointing out that while nationalism includes nazism, nazism does not encompass all of nationalism.

Technically I would probably qualify under that definition as well, since everyone sucks and I hate you all equally. . . . #notanazi

To paraphrase the brilliant Dennis Leary... "My hate is based on personal performance... I have a white Irish cousin, looks just like me.... he's a FUCKING IDIOT!!!"

@dustinb3403 said in Random Thread - Anything Goes: @Grey the general understanding of the term equates to a person who hates everyone No it does not.

@dustinb3403 said in Random Thread - Anything Goes: @Grey the general understanding of the term equates to a person who hates everyone that isn't the same as them. Not really. National Socialism is a very specific subset of facism. It's centered around some key tenants and ideas.

Not arguing the merits or criticism, just pointing out that while nationalism includes nazism, nazism does not encompass all of nationalism. Oddly enough, most Neo-Nazi supporters in America are anti-socialism. They embrace the bad of Nazism without any of its benefits (and yes, while horrible in the end, it has some positive features, which is why it was so popular.)

@scottalanmiller I never understood the emotional response to socialism. If you don't agree with a concept then don't agree? Why get emotional about it?
