I have an awesome little VGA to HDMI adapter, but it will only work on Windows. I am looking for an alternative for my Ubuntu laptop. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Ubuntu doesn't automatically find the driver?

Can you post what you currently have so we aren't posting a suggestion for something you already have?

Wait, the VGA side plugs into the laptop?

That's what I'm guessing. Then again, I have seen computers with HDMI out but no VGA. shrugs

Ok, your adapter is still basically USB to HDMI, so a USB graphics adapter. Some of what I was seeing on my Google results was saying that the support to get them working is there, but they are by no means plug and play like they are on Windows. FWIW

Seems like you just need to tell it that it is a monitor.

No, the USB is for power. It is a VGA to HDMI adapter. There is nothing else to do with VGA except send the video signal.

Sounds like an Xorg issue then.
