Firefox 31.0 Issue
-
I already said that I need to install and use only the Firefox version 31.0 and I have downloaded and installed at the Ubuntu 14.04.But there is a issue that it automatically updated without any alert. Why the browser is updated automatically?I have also stopped the update option of Firefox browser but also the browser automatically update to the Firefox 37 version Why?Anyone knew about?

Why do you not want it updated? That makes no sense and is illogical

Agreed.

Firefox introduced a feature awhile back that included automatic, silent updates. I want to say it was at least a couple years ago. Why do you need to be on Firefox 31? Why is Firefox 37 an issue?
-
Now back in the 3.x days, when 4 came out, and the successors, some sites didn't work with the newer versions. But I've heard about nothing like this between versions 31 and 37.

That correctly describes where he works.

@scottalanmiller No I have already said you that my manager needs only firefox 31.0 version in one client place and he is saying that the firefox should not be updated automatiacally in any situation. So only i need to have firefox 31.0 version only

Here is a list of Firefox MSI's: http://www.frontmotion.com/Firefox/download_firefox.htm
Auto update has been disabled, I believe but you might be able to GPO it back on if you need to later.

That's a setting in Firefox and has nothing to do with Ubuntu, Linux or installation. You have to disable it before it updates itself.

@scottalanmiller Yes I have already used the option in firefox as Never Update. But the firefox updated and tried to uninstall the firefox but it is not uninstalling now.
I have used
sudo apt-get purge firefox but there is no other option came for removing from the ubuntu. -

@scottalanmiller I have downloaded the Firefox 31 version .tar.gz file and extracted the file and installed it.

So if it is not controlled by the APT system, why are you trying to use APT to remove it? I think you are struggling with the fundamentals of what it means to "install" something and how package management systems work. You are not using Ubuntu's package management system when it matters but then trying to rely on it later - which does not work.
When you use apt-get, apt controls the packages and maintains a database of them. If you are just copying files around manually, apt knows nothing about them and cannot be used. You placed Firefox there manually, you must remove it manually.
-
@scottalanmiller Ok I have also remove by the command rm which is used to remove.I can open the firefox only by having the command in terminal and the command is 'firefox'.Then there is an line comes after typing firefox in the terminal.I have attached the screenshot of that. When I close the terminal the firefox also closes automatically.

So you just deleted Firefox and are now trying to run it? I have no idea what you are trying to do. What are you trying to do here?
-
I've never seen someone delete something and immediately try to run it before. I am so lost.
