HP Server Shutdown Issue
-
Hi All,
There is a small issue in HP Proliant DL160 5G Server. The hard disk is not connected with the server. When the server is switched ON the initailization process starts properly. The Server cannot able to go for BIOS settings. When the server is started the server shows the components connected in the server and after that the server suddenly shut down without giving any acknowledgement. Can anyone suggest me how to troubleshoot the issue in this server? -
Can you connect to the HP Lights-Out interface?

HP Lights-Out/iLO is for server management when the server is off. It allows you to remotely reboot, start or power off a server and it also interfaces directly with the hardware and shows any faults or possible issues.

Have a look at the picture on the right in this link: http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=c04286565
That's another network adapter. Does your server have network cable connected there? -
Getting ILO access is definitely the place to start. That will allow you to see diagnostics of the system even with it shut down.
Sounds like likely a memory issue.

Could easily be overheating too.

The ILO Port is between the Serial port and the USB ports on the back of this server. However, if you didn't configure it before you may not be able to get into it, unless it defaults to DHCP (not sure on that one)
The default username is Administrator and the password is listed on the server tag somewhere.
