You make interesting videos Scott! And with a consistent output! Keep up the good work!

How many hours of work is it to turn the raw footage from a video, like this one, into the finished product ready for upload?

I'm thinking about having a channel but it seems like it would require a substational time commitment.

Of work, it's about 2-3 minutes per minute of recorded footage in editing. And obviously 1 minute for each minute of recording, lol. Often there is travel time.

There is a lot of waiting time for uploads and downloads, but that's all just computer time. And render time.

So it takes most of a day to get a video out, but about 2-3 hours of my time to produce it, typically. The episode that went live today is 70 minutes shot in two segments. That took 75 minutes of filming time and about three hours to edit or more (if you watch it, you can tell why, I label every street.)

Then 1-2 hours to render. Uploading and downloading was probably pushing eight hours. Then YouTube's rendering took over 30 hours once uploaded to them! That one was intense.

The vlog format lets me move pretty quickly, but it's still intense. Valentina makes the thumbnails after the whole process is done. That's like 20-60 minutes per episode of her time too. She tends to batch them. She's doing five today, for example.

So, yeah, for one like this, for sure. I turn out two videos per day. One is long and comes out like clockwork at 9am Eastern for coffee and donuts time. The vlog format makes it "easy" once you get used to it, the editing is very light.

My TakeFlight shows take maybe 20-30 hours of editing to produce a 10-20 minute episode and come out once every several months. So totally different amount of effort. It REALLY depends on your workflow and editing needs for an episode.

This channel is designed around making it easy to produce. BUT, some stuff like the episode being made today or the one made last Saturday (the parade going live in two days) took many, many hours to record because I had to travel, film events, etc. I've been filming all morning today and am just prepping to go film with my lawyer all afternoon.

Took the kids out for a fun day on the town in Leon. We hit the Case del Cafe for dessert and coffee; then we went to El Sesteo on Central Park / Plaza Mayor for lunch.

Walking the Barrio of Guadalupe today and musing on how our views on shopping and buying things have changed after living in Nicaragua for so long.

Ever wonder how cell phones work in Nicaragua? A little talk about how to get one, SIM cards, Tigo, Claro, pre-pay, post-pay and more.

Got our water system repaired today. And I went out and filmed a big procession in Leon in the rain.
