I am learning alot of new tricks in Exchange 2013

I have managed small and medium Exchange environments my whole IT career. The last time I did any formal Microsoft training in Exchange was Exchange 2000. On Tuesday, I started taking "Core Solutions of Microsoft Exchange Server 2013." I thought I was going to just breeze through this material and take the test. I am breezing through the material fairly quickly, but I am also learning quite a bit. I have done some throttling on specific users, but its always been on a single user basis. You know the kind of thing you google and once you find your answer, your're done. I am really learning the power of throttling now. I am also learning small tricks that I didn't know about EAC. Even though I have been managing Exchange 2013 for almost two years now.

I find that certification or certification-like structured training (this could be books, CBTs, videos, classes, or whatever) really help with getting a big picture and getting deep into things. Googling is great to fix a problem, but you need something more to really learn how things work.

Yeah. I was learning how to fix problems, but not how to make things more efficient and better overall for our environment.

Google is better for admins working in the job, Books and structured learning is better for engineers building systems from scratch.

Few things are better than a well written book on a subject. Neil Ford used to be one of the best.

I need to spend some time going over the exchange 2013 books myself, I've deployed countless exchanges up through 2010, but 2013 just seems to have endemic issues, like sharepoint. You've got to dig in and change things before it'll even begin to work properly.
On a fresh exchange 2013 install, I couldn't even get the EAC to come up until I'd installed the service packs, all I was getting was "Something went wrong, sorry :-(", no messages to help along the way.I liked the old exchange console :<
