Can't Uninstall Webroot from a mac
-
I installed Webroot on my mac (os 10.10) just to test it, it never really worked well or right for me. (I blame it on mac os though). It's not letting me uninstall it, when I click move to trash it prompts for the admin password for elevation like normal but never moves to the trash bin. I tried renaming it too, it prompts for the password then says I can't do that.
Just for kicks, I renamed and also deleted another app out of the applications folder with no problem what so ever.

Well, seems like this is a common issue. It's all over Webroots forum and even on there Facebook. all they say is you need to put in a support case to have them remote in and solve it. No posting of a KB or and solution to fix it anywhere, that's just sad.
I will try to figure this out and post the solution, which webroot should've done anyway since it's a "known issue".

So here is the solution:
The main problem is Webroot invokes it self using some kind of watchdog process every time in closes (in case of malicious closing), so even if you close it out using the shutdown from the application the other process is still open, which presents a problem as if you will all the process they will just come back, making the files not deletable.
Go to the terminal:
**chmod -R -x **on the webroot application (this stops it from being able to run)Then run ps aux. Find any webroot processes, then use kill PID to kill them. Where PID = the PID of the process you found using ps aux.

Thanks for the tip!

Sorry you ran into this one - yeah there's a lot of discussions about it on the community. Anyway, glad you found the fix.
