Unknown ESET Uninstall Password

I'm in an environment that did not previously have internal IT, and what we have is a potpourri of different AV software (Trend Micro, ESET, Microsoft Security Essentials, etc.). Well, we're deploying our standard corporate AV and realized we do not have the uninstall password for the version of ESET installed on several machines here. Has anyone had success with following the steps in this article (http://support.eset.com/kb2289/?locale=en_US) and not completely messing up the target Windows 7 / 8.1 computer? I just wanted to ask before we give it a go.

I've had ESET do remote kills before. They keep a secret kill switch, you could call them and ask them to do it for you.

I was thinking after reading the article from ESET we might have no choice if the uninstall goes awry.

@NetworkNerd ORLY? I didn't visit the link. That serious, eh? I'd try giving their support a call and see what they say. We use ESET where I work and their support when I've needed it has been great.

I assume since these are individual workstations not centrally managed it would have to be done per workstation.

I don't think it would hurt to reach out to them. Worst they say is that you need to follow the KB article in your original post and you burned some time. If I recall, their hold times are not too bad.

Just saw this link Reset your settings password using the ESET unlock tool

Use it in safe mode. You don't need to know the password. I've used it countless of times, and I never messed up any of the machines. -

I called Support yesterday, and they mentioned the unlock tool was an option as well as the uninstaller.

The Support Tech I spoke with said the same thing (never message up a machine after the uninstall). I just tried it on a WIndows 7 box, and it worked like a champ.
