Superfast broadband roll-out fuels telco jobs boom, claims recruiter

The latest edition of recruitment firm ManPowerGroup’s Employment Outlook Survey has uncovered a spike in job growth around the telecoms and media sector where, it claimed, hiring intentions have in recent months returned to pre-recession levels.
ManPower’s report, based on a 2,101-strong sampling of UK employers, found that the national seasonally adjusted net employment outlook of 8% growth rose to 17% in telecoms and media.
The organisation suggested a combination of the deployment of superfast broadband and Quad Play operator reaction to demands for better mobile content access lay behind its stats.ManPower's senior director of telecommunications and media, Tobias Mills, said the roll-out of superfast fibre solutions was a strong growth driver but suggested there was still a skills shortage in the sector.
