I'm a contractor at the office, only one. We have a team of four, but a total IT of seven.
Today was the last day for the longest person on the IT team (seven years).
They posted his position to several job boards and I got notification this evening.
Keep in mind - I'm a contractor - brought on with the idea of six months to hire.... Six months was the end of December.
What's that? Did I hear a whisper?....
-
That's more than a whisper.

Are you saying that you feel that they are skipping over you and going straight to advertising it?
Bit rude.
Seems like some questions need to be asked.

Maybe it is like we were told on Wall St.... full time salaried positions are the fall back for the people who can't cut it as the contractors.

Have you received notification from job boards or from the management of the company you work for?

Do you want FTE? Did you talk to them in December about it?
-
Do you make considerably more than you would as a FTE?
-
If the answers to 1=yes and 2=no then it's clear they do not want to bring you on full time. After being there for a year, it's time to move on. If the answers to 1=no and 2=yes then there is no issue. Some contractors don't want FTE because they can make considerably more as a contractor.

Good question. When I started - absolutely. Environment seemed like a good one and the work wasn't difficult albeit lame at times. Like I have to replace toner at one building, the others I don't. Which never made sense.. If the other offices can manage to do it themselves, why is this 'special'.
In Dec I was informed I was going Month to Month at the end of the six months..

For the most part - about the same

While I have bills and hobbies like most - it was never really about the money. Though cutting fifty miles off my daily commute was a huge benefit. I went from two tanks of fuel a week to just one,.. some times I get more than a week out of one.. so that (at May 2022 prices) cuts about $80.00 in fuel costs... Not to mention the other vehicle maintenance..
We all are responsible for projects and tickets.... but it's almost daily that we are pegged with "Tickets, Tickets, Tickets,..." and where are we on #21709. Thursday a ticket came in at 3:30 (time stamp) and when it popped up just a mere 3min later we were told to close it. So, it micro-manages the inbound queue faster that we do. But - we had to go find a vendor ticket that he also watchs and uses... like back up.

I think that's you're answer. They feel like they need to revaluate month to month. I would have argued for at least 3-6 month contracts or been looking to leave within a month or two max

I agree, that's your notice that you need to be actively looking. Month to month means that they AND you are supposed to evaluate the relationship every 30 days.
