ML now Google top hits?

I'll admit my targeted users are alot less technical than ML users, but 25% of my direct hits come from Google Searches of my website name. I have a .com name which is easier to remember than .it
Are you thinking of a case where someone hears the name somewhere and then searches to find it?

I believe it is still a problem with technical users. I find myself remembering business names and not necessarily URLs. I just quickly search the business name in google and I am done.
Remember that .com names are the norm so anything that is not a .com isn't as memorable even though in this instance it is .it

Could be. I wish that I had some visibility into users having that issue in a use case that we could study to see the how, why and result.

Social Media Pages would help, too. They can rank higher on Google and redirect users to the website from Facebook or Twitter.

My site is much newer than competitors and has probably received less traffic. I rank first page on Google and Bing for common searches specific to the site. The site is 6 months old if that with a total redesign done 3 months ago.

Have you considered Facebook? There are many Facebook IT groups that you could post on. That is how I leverage most of my fishing traffic. I found groups that have between 1k-20k members and post fishing articles directly on there. I have received over 2500 unique hits and 300 shares in a single day with very little effort.

There might be a FB page already, I honestly do not know
@minion-queen or @danjcasejr would know that

There is. I cant browse, FB is blocked.

The page is nice, but people have to search it out. Groups are really nice because Facebook users join a group called "information technology" for example. That group has 2,000 members and make posts similiar to a forum. As the users are more activity on the group, they get group feeds on their regular facebook feed.
You join the group, post your links and people follow the traffic. If you post in a group of 2k people you are likely to get at least exposure to 100 different people if not more than that. You do this on multiple groups and you can quickly grow.
-
I post on my business page, then share the posts from the business page to the Facebook Group. Users now will follow your links and some of will also follow your Facebook page since the link to it is in your posts.
-
If you need help getting started on this let me know.

Another strategy I use is interact with the group and find out their interests. For example I find out what fishing lures they like to use in the group and go out and buy and test them. Then write an article on how to fish them with the fish I caught.
You could have the group ask open questions and post them on ML for members to answer. Then post a link to thread in reply to a comment. That will really engage the users.
