Physical Environment Monitoring
-
I'm looking at getting some environment monitoring for my server room, just temperature and humidity in one room, possibly two (second is in another building but network accessible).
Ideally, I would like SNMP, email and SMS alerts.
That being said, SMS is just a nice-to-have bonus and not a deal breaker/maker.
I've had a quick look at:- ITWatchDogs
- APC (super expensive from my initial investigation)
- Ferret
What do you lot use?
Do you like it?
Any recommendations? -
Is a build you own an option?
-
It could be, I'd not considered it.

@nadnerB
Raspberry Pi It's cheap and easy to install.https://publiclab.org/wiki/fido-the-raspberry-pi-based-temperature-alarm-that-sends-text-messages
There are more similar projects in Internet.

Doesn't Ubiquiti have something for this? There was some vendor that I looked at in the last year that had nice options and now I cannot remember who it was.

If I'm looking at $200 entry fee for just a networked temperature sensor, well, a Raspberri Pi with a $3 temp sensor and $.10 resistor looks real good.
Knowing how Ubiquiti does things, they probably drop the DIY route off the cost curve. Yep, looked at B+H Looks like you can get a temp sensor on the network for ~$96, which you'd be at or over that price just for components of a DIY kit.
