Recommendations for Cameras
-
His boss doesn't have a clue what makes for a good solution. He wants to add "stuff" to make the cameras bigger and more bulky (and costly).
There is zero logic here.
Are these cameras at shoulder lever or something . . I mean if he is this concerned about the cameras being physically damaged (I assume because of estimated cost) than he should be just as concerned that anyone breaking in is going to just cut the power to the building and wait the 1-4 hours for the UPS batteries to die. . .

@DustinB3403 Settle down. Nobody said anything about deterring theft. You inferred that on your own. The purpose of the cameras is more for HR defense then anything.

The use case is still to "deter bad behavior". I could go back and edit every post and they are still 100% accurate and true.
Your boss is being emotional about this.

Well, For the defensive of people in general, We arent robots who think logically 100% of the time.
Being emotional, even on things as the OP says is completely normal. -
But there isn't any room for emotion in the conversation.
"I need a recommendation to be able to record and possibly deter bad behavior in/around the office"
There is no reason that the recommendation needs to look tough, the recommendation isn't a bouncer at a bar. . .

I cannot help what my boss thinks and feels. I can talk to him logically all day long, but when its done, it is still his decision. So, lets move on from the emotions. I asked for recommendations, not criticism. Lets move on.

But for those prices. . .these look more like toys than the Ubnt stuff, imo
Maybe he wants something like these:

I was going to say the same. . . lol
I think he wants something like these:
https://www.axis.com/en-us/products/axis-q16-seriesAnd I bet these work about as well as the options already discussed, but cost way more and have less features.
This topic feels like one about ESXi Free vs Everything else. .

I have not mentioned price and I want to keep it that way. Can't be wireless. They will be too far apart.

I'm not criticizing you, I'm criticizing the moron you report to.
Tell him you have more installation options with the Ubiquiti gear, it's easy to setup and maintain and expand. And it won't cost
you athe business fortune with the number of devices you need. -

Hands down I would lose it if I saw these.

Here's the perfect set-up:
There's no way anyone would commit a crime being recorded by a panda.

I'd have to do a little jig and dance if I was caught doing something illegal with these things. Lol

Checked out Meraki as we already use them for the wifi. Not at $1000-$1500/camera.

question: is that what your boss is considering "more serious looking"? no criticism, want to know what kind you are looking for. . . SO we can give better suggestions.

Of course you can't have Ubiquiti IP cameras. Can't have "home" equipment when you're talking about a serious installation with 80-100 cameras in two locations.
You need to look at this from a physical security perspective, not from a network gear perspective.
Obviously you are going to have some serious cabling and installation to be done as well so the entire project isn't just about buying a few IP cameras. You need to look at companies that does installations of this size and see what brands they offer. There are many brands but big ones are for example Sony, Axis, Canon. So start by finding out what CCTV suppliers and installers you have in your region and get some quotes on what you need.
PS. The "look" your boss wants is from the outdoor housings. But not all cameras needs outdoor housings, it depends on what they are going to be used for and the environmental conditions it mounted in.
I have experience with Axis in plants and they are good. Also have some experience with D-link Business IP cameras in plants and they worked fine but if they are a good choice or not would depend on the kind of support you can get.
