SW rant time

So, it's been a slow steady decline of the past few years, but I am on my last nerve with spiceworks.
There are several factors to my frustration, for example people asking for PCI compliance help because they are getting fined and "IT Experts" respond with statements like "You can't get fined for not being PCI compliant." It seems like the intelligence level of the active community has been greatly reduced over the last 5 years.
Another thing that is putting the last nail in the coffin for me, is the shitty censorship. That David guy, the community mod, is the worst mod I have ever seen, not only in SW, but like ever. He deletes/censors posts arbitrarily. It's obvious there are some posters that can say anything they want, and not have their post removed. They can refer to people who get offended by anything as a "safe space pansy," but if you say they seem "triggered," then your post will be removed.I am done with it, glad there is this place where I can still rant once a year or two and not have it censored.

I wish I could upvote this a bunch more times. You're 1000% correct about the ridiculous moderation methods over there, and about that <LOOOONG string of expletives omitted> David 'ass.
Welcome to the mango side, we have cookies. And people who know what they're talking about (not me, but there are others).

Cookies are only given out at mangocon. And then only if someone makes them.

Don't hardly ever post over there since I joined here, not a fan of the new thread layout either.

I agree, harder to read than before.

@grey that was me being polite, freedom of expression and all that.

I won't be posting over there either, I will probably keep doing the daily challenge, but that's it.

I don't think I've looked at the site since the latest layout change. Just adding spots of ads that will just be repeats last I knew anyway.
-
@computerchip that's all I do as well to be fair, I do like the daily challenge.
-
Can we implement something like the daily challenge here as well?

That would be bad ass, but we would need competent people to review the entries.

You mean something like this (Link contains words mods don't like, you've been warned.)

The DC is so bad, though. Half the stuff is wrong, there is no oversight process (the person overseeing it has intentionally been keeping wrong answers in even when knowing that they are wrong), and what is right is often trivial or non-applicable to broad IT. It's a horrible system.

Can, yes. But it is a huge undertaking to do well, as SW has shown. Theirs is the prime example of everything not to do. Wrong answers, no means of correcting them, questions that shouldn't be being asked of real IT people, etc.
I actually got into IT social media through a challenge system like that, before I was in forums. It's harder and more expensive than you think to do even moderately well.

Making a DC system is a bit like making a real time certification exam.
