Solved Managing Hyper-V 2016 without Windows 8.1 or 10
-
I have a client that only has Windows 7 machines. Since Windows 7 doesn't have all the tools to manage Hyper-v 2016, I was looking at 3rd party managers. Does any one have one they really like? I was going to try 5nine today. Are there others I should look at?

5Nine is really the leader and main player here. That's what I would use even if I had Windows 10

Yeah 5Nine is essentially the only solution to consider here.

Hyper-V Manager doesn't suck too badly in 2012 R2 -- at least to me.

It's just a very basic solution that doesn't work wonderfully.

Is "not sucking too badly" a good selling point? And 2012 R2 isn't cheap.

For me, it seems faster than 5nines a lot of times. Maybe just me. I've been saved by 5nines a few times though.

The interface seems faster? I've not used 5Nines enough to feel it lagging, I guess.

5nine Manager is nice, and I like the monitoring it includes in the interface as well.
But you can fully manage your Hyper-V environment in Hyper-V Manager and FCM together.
5nine Manager does have some nice built in bonuses though... (centralized through the 5nine manager, versus setting it up on each Hyper-V server via Event Viewer for example)
- logging
- alerting
- reporting
- file transfers
- a ton of other things (that are useful, that'd you actually use)
