I want to ditch cable but I am running into a few questions.
I have been used to using my Roku for Pandora, and Netflix.
I also watch shows on all the 4 major channels. I want to get some sports too, but I can deal with getting them on local with what ever I use for the 4 major networks. I also use the movie channels in my Directv package.
Then when I have family over that wants to watch anything from sports to kids shows, etcc. How do I cater to them?
Will Plex, Sling, and combos of Rokus get me what I need?
I need something to broadcast on my Bedroom, my office, my guest room and my living room.

I already pay for Spotify, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Pandora.
I am paying $160/mo with Directv with the 4 recivers 100+ basic channels and all the movie channels.
Critical news like the weather for hail, I guess I can get through my phone.

I am paying for 18mb internet at $40, and that is the fastest they offer with a single line.

Switch DSL to coax. Get higher speeds for not much more cost. Same shitty service.

For the OTA, I use an antenna. I do not have sports, but you can sub directly to ESPN stuff if you want.

I sub to Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Cruchyroll.

Have not had subscription TV service in 15 years.

Is fiber available up there in the boonies where you are? We have fiber at the house and it is really solid. But we are in the real city, not on the abandoned side of the lake

Either that Roki or some kind of Kodi device, such as an RPi or an old computer should suffice for what you are asking. If you go with either of the RPi or the computer routes then you could possibly get an SDR and that would take care of your OTA needs as well all in one package.

KODI is a good option i believe. I have Pandoki running to replace the Pandora player and it works rather well.

There are a number of PVR (video recorder) that will give you options using a SDR / TV-Tuner.

For the Over the Air piece I built a Zbox media center computer with Windows 7 and Media Center on it and a USB TV tuner hooked to an antenna. I bought a media center remote and that setup worked pretty good. At the time I tried XBMC, but at the end of the day it was easier for me to get everything running under Windows.
