Yeah not sure how 9 years would be considered quickly but, glad it was found.

The time from when this bug was discovered and patched was minimal like maybe a few hours.
The initial discovery phase was the issue.

It's VERY fast because you measure time to fix based on when it was found, not when it was created. In closed source software you have no "creation date" to know when it was introduced. The entire idea that a bug has an age is purely an open source thing. ANd fixing a found bug in open source is generally a tiny fraction of the time as in closed source.
If this had been Windows it might have been twelve years old and take months to fix.

I don't disagree, it just means that the bug was so obscure or so difficult to find that it was never known. I'm glad it was fixed.
I've patched all of my systems as of today anyways. And will patch again next week.

Well... this bug was "fixed" a decade ago but a year after the fix the fix was taken out because it interfered with a different patch.
