I also wonder if the NSA shares info with the FBI, and if I will be getting a knock at my door in the next 30 minutes. 😛

      The flow goes like this...

NSA shared to the FBI shares to Chinese hackers

Folders in that list that don't have the double folder within a folder icon are not OUs. As such GPO's don't apply to objects in them.

learned this the hard way a long time ago.

      Useful information. Thank you.

So, I'm not trying to get into a political debate at all, but did anyone notice that Jeb Bush didn't pay for his domain name and Trump stole it? www.jebbush.com He made it re-direct to his own website. This is real life.

Only thing is... that's never been Jeb's domain. His domain is jeb2016.com.

Have I been had? Did the internet turn on me? There are a ton of websites reporting this. Are you sure he didn't just change it or didn't own multiple domains? I'm upset now

@Rob-Dunn looked in the Wayback machine, there is nothing indicating that it was ever his. It definitely is not and was not his current one for this election.

Then I have to apologize for spreading misinformation. It's sad that it isn't true. I wanted it to be true so badly. 😞

    • RE: Thin Clients over ZeroTier

Sorry for the lack of information. I'm currently researching LAN-less technology and was looking at thin clients just for funsies. We would be using ZT already and I was just wondering if thin clients would even work over the WAN. This is something I would possibly implement. We used to have them on mobile carts at the hospital I used to work at (LAN based). Bear with me here. I came in to get my cup of coffee today and someone didn't re-fill the Keurig so my life is meaningless for the next five minutes.

If the Thin Client doesn't support having the ZT software installed, you will have to set up a ZT gateway.

But relying on the WAN is reasonable in this circumstance? How would I calculate it or would you just set up a test environment and see how the WAN handled it?

      Pretty much.

      Appreciate the advice. Thanks!

Well the purpose of LMI is to bypass the need for a connection like ZT. Having ZT you can just go back to use RDP, ICA, NX or whatever like you used before LMI.

I mean, could I realistically run everything from a remote server and have a thin client with ZT installed just view it?

ZT is just a nice VPN. So if a thin client would have worked before, it will keep working with ZT. If the thin client worked with a VPN before, it will work with ZT. ZT doesnt really add anything new to a thin client / terminal server model. It works fine there, but I'm not picturing what you feel is the new feature here.

We have had no thin client before I'm just wondering with distance and everything involved if it's a reasonable alternative

I just did an in place upgrade from 8.1 to 10 on my main desktop.

      Flawless so far, everything works.

Wish mine would have been that simple. I have an add on usb3 card that refused to work at first, then just started working out of the blue, no change that I could see besides some updates.

That just happened to me with my led controller arduino that I have in my arcade stick 😄

      0_1455737420587_stick.jpg

Stick was made by www.jasenscustoms.com to give credit for it!
Custom art was done by hibachifinal on the SRK forums.

It's the highest quality arcade stick I have ever seen and I go to tournaments for Street Fighter often.

I've been thinking of building myself an arcade stick/cabinet. That is really cool!

Thanks! I was researching everything intending on building my own as well but the guy (Jasen) who built it is a nuclear engineer for the Navy. I just couldn't beat his stick, there is no way. I wish I had it with my right now to show you how unbelievably clean the internal cabling is. It's crazy. Metal body too.

Huh, I went to grad school with a nuclear engineer from the Navy, he was interested in old school gaming too.

The metal body is nice. I was thinking of doing mine in clear acrylic or plexiglass. That black metal finish is super clean though.

There is clear plexi on the bottom that exposes the internal components. It's honestly perfect imho. All Sanwa buttons and stick as well.

Isn't it more LAN-like than a cloud service? I suppose we could move our exchange server to a data-center and get more guaranteed connections and better power managemenet options/disaster recovery plans, but isn't that one of the benefits of the cloud or am I way off base here?

Well that's an advantage of hosted. Critical services should generally already be in a datacenter, in most cases.

But it's not LAN-like. Even on on premises Exchange server behaves as if it was its own thing.

      I understand. Thank you!

Benefits of the cloud is its worry free, guaranteed 99.99% up time (typically), and maintenance free.
Then yes electricity, redundancy, internet speeds, etc

That was my understanding. Thank you for clarifying 🙂

Isn't moving to O365 going to be necessary at some point though anyway? Isn't this where technology is going? I'm asking because I honestly don't know.

It's where most things are headed, yes. Necessary might be a strong way to think of it. But the trend is and has been that directly very rapidly.

      Thank you.

I strongly word it because my understanding is that LAN won't be as supported as it is today in the future. How far away that is, I have no idea.

Even if you have a traditional LAN, it doesn't mean your Exchange would be treated as a LAN resource, though. Email is inherently LANless by design of being a network to network communications platform.

While I do prefer to move Exchange out, it is not a clear cut simple answer. Even considering all costs.

The biggest mistake people make when it comes to discussing Office 365 is lumping all the services and costs into one thing.

Instead, you need to determine what parts of the puzzle are needed.

Exchange Online Plan 1: $4 per user per month (Exchange).
Office 365 Business Essentials: $5 per user per month (Exchange, ODfB, and SfB).
Office 365 Business: $8 per user per month (Desktop Office apps and ODfB).
Office 365 Business Premium: $12.50 per user per month (Exchange, ODfB, SfB, Desktop Office apps).

If you are only discussing the need for Exchange, then you should be looking at $4 per user per month or $48 per user per year.

Isn't moving to O365 going to be necessary at some point though anyway? Isn't this where technology is going? I'm asking because I honestly don't know.
