Xen is bridged in Vbox.. so it is in my LAN

You also need to configure Xen to bridge the connections to its VMs as well, so that your XenVMs will get IP addresses on your LAN as well.

You don't need to configure XenServer to do that for you when the management interface is on the same network as the rest of the network. Since we're nowhere near best practices here anyway, it should just work. Why it's not I don't know, might have to do with the nested virtualization layers.

What about stating the obvious makes him not a human being? (Haven't read the article.)

Have you ever listened to the man? He's about as much a snake as anyone I've ever seen. And he's bitching about "Democrats being obstructionists" and it's just funny that the GOP is bitching about something they've been doing for YEARS.

It's not like any side can complain about things they don't do themselves. Politician is a dirty word, and I don't really care who or what they claim to be. I'll leave it at that.

We used to use Zmanda, used to. Support told me that "Those backups are fine." Reality was different. Testing saved my bacon, and we switched to using CrashPlan (the free one) after that support incident.

Does anyone realize that every energy conversion suffers loss? It's so ridiculously laughable to me every time people fire up the electric vs. gas vehicle debate. It generally requires fossil fuels to generate electricity (on a large scale), and then you get another potential drop when converting from AC to battery DC potential electricity. There is no magical "save the planet" clause that kicks in and gives you a conversion bonus for being "green", and when you're all done wasting energy to look like you've done the planet some great service, you throw your massive used-up lead-acid batteries in a landfill. Sure, technology keeps getting better, and there may come a point when we can produce all of our electricity w/o the use of fossil fuels, but until that actually happens in the real world, physics renders the argument invalid. I'll accept that using solar panels to generate the power to charge your car is a step in the right direction, but now you've added another layer of toxic batteries to the chain. And my 3 cars average about 350-400 miles per tank of gas, at roughly 25-30 mpg.

You went and got me started, here we go.

We should be 100% nuclear power generation right now. Most of the current reactors in the US are so old it's not even funny. Yet we keep operating the old, known to be dangerous, designs a la Fukushima. We have abundant fuel, safe reactors that can not melt down, and can recycle around 99% of the fuel. Yet we do NONE of this... excuse me, I need to go collect the duct tape because my head just exploded.

I've got an EdgeRouter X SFP at home, and a nice chunk of some bonus money on an Amazon gift card. Wondered if anyone's used those PoE to USB adapters and if you'd recommend on over another? Thinking about powering a Rasspberri Pi through it for now.

The thought originated in ERL vs ER.

The funny thing is that Bumblebee was a VW Beetle originally. Since the first Transformers movie was basically a paid ad for GM, I guess that wasn't going to fly.

Well, let's be honest here, Transformers was never anything other than a marketing vehicle. (pun intended)

If you're referring to the movies, I'll go for that.

I thought the original Transformers cartoons were only created to sell more toys. Brilliant move by someone at the time.

@Shuey said in Options for deploying standardized image to desktop & laptops?:

FOG ended up being just the ticket! It was easy to deploy, easy to configure, and I already had a base VM ready to go for image capture. Capturing and deploying the image was a breeze and took about 60 minutes total (not bad at all for the size of the base image and the speed of our infrastructure).

Thanks for taking me into giving it a try - it was well worth the time!

Sounds like I need to go ahead and set one up in my lab. It's been years, so probably time for a self refresher anyway.

We have power here, but there are folks to the north, to the east, and to the west of us without power. The 2 main suppliers are saying 96,000 and 70,000 each, citing customers without power this morning. At 9am they will begin assessment and repair, and have teams coming from out of state to assist. We're hearing estimates of 2-4 days until full restoration is complete.

Half of Holmes County is still out as well.

In the nobody should be surprised by this, people are morons with traffic lights when the power is out. I saw more near crashes this morning than traffic lights because people refuse to treat them as a 4 way stop.
