Some people may think that it's a bit odd that we are discussing 99% "orange" content. Do you remember any discussion about superuser / StackExchange topics for example?

I'm not aware of those sites blocking open discussion on their own platforms. Do they share a need for their discussions to be protected? If so, they should definitely be treated similarly. As they are Q&A platforms, rather than IT peer review platforms, they don't tend to suffer the same risks.

Just an example, but good point.

Maybe the question is not if we are allowed to but if we should do it.

Well, that's a bigger question. And it goes both ways. To some, it seems like talking about technical content from somewhere else is bad. But most people seem to think that it is good.

What's the condition that quoting and discussing technical stuff is bad? Especially given that the need to do so is that other forums for open discussion are not available?

Is there a way to incorporate an article/blog portion in addition to the discussion threads? It seems difficult to find things here overall, and there is some very good information that is harder to locate/sift through since it isn't distilled down to a how-to/article.

That's a major problem here. We had some very good discussions in the past, but sometimes it just seems that information vanishes into void. NodeBB features a great search function and content tagging, but that's only half of what could be needed.

What about a big "Community best practices" project. We could start to work out best practices based on repetitive topics, for example. How to create users? How to I setup XYZ. How to enable AD Recycle Bin... There's so much that could be collected.

      Community Knowledgebase?

Maybe not just a knowledgebase but everything the average SMB admin could need.

We could tag a bunch of threads something specific for that and work on it collectively

Basically ... the Hitchhiker's Guide to IT

I think the threads are great - for discussions. But what if we compile what we talked about into small how to's and best practices?

Are you setting the NICTeam IP or one of the adapters making the team.

Leave the individual adapters alone, and just set the Team

Asked that before, he's configuring the team, not the NICs

Before it's a team you can mess with the NIC settings, and it effects the Team afterwards (in my experience).

Should not happen because Windows will unbind all IP protocols (v4 and v6) from each member NIC. At least in theory.

      Don't ya just love theory???

I'm more on the practical side.

@thwr it would be a longshot, there would be no reason they would have turned it on. I just keep going back to there having to be a route for all 192.168.x.x traffic to go elsewhere. that is the only thing i can think of that would snipe the traffic off that nic.

      Was just a wild guess

@thwr That's exactly right. DHCP is working but once I assign a static it doesn't work. I am using an unused IP address and am putting in the correct subnet, default gateway and DNS.

That's really odd. Any chance you made a mistake / typo?

You could - and I don't think it makes any difference - try to unplug one cable (or disable one of the physical NICs). Maybe there's something on the switch side like a blocked port or an old VLAN config on that port or...
