@thwr I think Xiaomi are not sold in US. Or if they are, not widely available. They do make some nice phones though.
Same story here. I've ordered two of them in Spain

Just from reading I would say he's using Quad9 as upstream DNS for his PiHole (which is used by clients)

Also worth noting, there are some problematic switches at each site. Again, because the VAR was clearly trying to add complexity to up the support bill, and I'm having them put in simple, low cost, unmanaged Netgears to make this really simple and reliable.
I detest NetGear switches. They generally work, but everytime I try to use one for something even half specific, they puke.
Sites this small can use the EdgeSwitch 8
https://www.ubnt.com/edgemax/edgeswitch-8-150w/And it will report into UNMS along with the routers.
Plus it's actually a switch, hardware- and software-wise. Not a breadbox which jumps over the table because you "accidentally" attached a cable to it. (yeah, I know, some NetGears also feature a metal case but it's not the same).

Just bought a Moto E4 for $50 to replace my Lumia 635. So long Windows Phone.
Tried something 2 months ago and I don't regret it: Bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 w/ 4GB RAM / 64GB flash for 160 EUR.
I had a lot smartphones in the past, so-called flagships from Sony, Samsung and HTC. I really liked Sony and HTC, but the Xiaomi is actually the best phone I owned until today, by far. Alu unibody, decent FHD display, features a fast mid-range octacore, fingerprint reader, and what not. The cam isn't the best, but to be honest, every smartphone cam sucks compared to my DSLR Given the price, it wins against any EUR 600+ flagship, IMHO.
Oh, I didn't mention the battery, which lasts for up to 3-5 days, depending on usage. Approx. 4 days for me with everything turned on: Bluetooth, WiFi, 4G, GPS, 2 hours of BT earphone playback per day. And the usual Google Maps, Netflix, Youtube, Browsing, ML, etc.
@brandon220 said in Looking for recommendations on the best UTM Firewalls for SMB's...:
I tend to use Edgerouters everywhere I can. That being said - I have 2 Sophos UTMs because of the web filtering mainly. I realize you can put them in transparent mode behind another router but it seems pointless when it can do everything. The country blocking is another feature that works really well. If I needed just a firewall I would never consider them.
pfBlocker / pfBlockNG on pfSense is great. You'll have a lot fewer kids knocking if you lock out all but the few required countries where you have employees etc. Doesn't make sense for a website maybe, but works great for VPNs for example. Only downside, as with every on-site firewall, is that the traffic already went over your wire, but it helps anyway.

So this message just came in:
Dustin, we heard you work/volunteer for StarWind. This means you can never mention them again.
Um go fuck yourself, if I did do that I would expect to be paid.
wtf said that?
Two guesses, name rhymes with "gave head" but starts with the letter D.
Wait, you aren't allowed to mention StarWind anymore at ? Because you work there? Which - like you said - isn't true?

Dell, HP, Fujitsu, whatever you prefer.
Have you ever bought Fujitsu? They always seem good by the specs and price.
I don't believe these are available in the US anymore are they?
Available, but very hard to get.
Well, they do build good systems, some of them last "forever". But if they are not available or barely available in the US...
Heading to my office. Removed a thick layer of snow and ice from my wife's car before. Can barely feel my fingers

Looks like they are available
pfSense is basically a BFG9000 full auto 12-gauge high explosive gatling railgun solution, capable of everything. pfSense is great because it features a solid base and has some great plugins. Used if for decades and will use it in the future. But it requires quite some experience when you want to get into details.
Personally, I think about UTMs the same way I do when I have to think about those compact stereo systems. They do what they are supposed to, mostly, but suck big time at some detail. And you can't replace that single bad thing. Better get specialized devices, so a good firewall / router (and maybe VPN) and a good IDS/IPS/AV system.

Two hours of unboxing. Cute white boxes. All have funny chars printed on them: ES-16-XG, ES-48-LITE, ES-8-150W, ER-Infinity, ER-4, UAC-AP-PRO, ...
Awesome!
Like a "Best of UBNT"
Surge protectors, inline UPS. UPS maybe not for single devices but for a whole room / floor. Would be way more efficient. Be aware of printers, @JaredBusch said that before

Just ordered an Actiontec ScreenBeam 960a. Basically a Intel WiDi and Miracast-receiver. Got some pretty good reviews. Will post what I found while testing the device.
Order canceled for the moment, currently playing with AirServer

Installing NextCloud 13. Thanks to @JaredBusch so I don't need to write up instructions for it.
Took me a whole 20 minutes to follow my old guide and update a couple lines.
Is there a reason for not using the official docker container?
because they are not official. they are community contributed
well, it's at least on their Github repo: https://github.com/nextcloud/docker

No issue, no problem
That's what I tell people as a developer when they "report" bugs... usually in any imaginable way except an issue tracker. Can be easily translated to:
No ticket, no problem.

Closing out helpdesk tickets because the people at the helpdesk can't do it.
Nice, I am just closing my tickets
Mine were done this morning.
Oh people don't make tickets before they leave friday afternoon and expect them done when it's time to go home? Lucky you.
No, they just come and grab me at 4:25 on Friday, without submitting a ticket.
No issue (ticket), no problem - one of my favorite quotes.
