Have you tried to "Enable loopback policy" setting in the computer section of the GPO? This will apply these user settings to anyone logged into the computer the GPO is applied to.

RE: Windows file length limit 2008 R2 > 2012 R2
Oh I see. I was assuming a file copy operation was failing due to long path names. And I messed up the syntax
It's subst x: path

RE: Windows file length limit 2008 R2 > 2012 R2
I'm not sure about the hotfix but you can get around this issue by using the substitute command. It's really similar to net use
subst x: path
So, if I wanted to substitute c:\longpth\toolong as a drive I would use
Subst x: c:\longpath\toolong
Use this command to shorten both paths and you will be all set
edit fixed syntax

RE: Hyper-V messed up. Lost Virtual Machine. :"(
If you made backups of these two vhdx I would try merging the two into one. Test and verify that all your data is there.

RE: Hyper-V messed up. Lost Virtual Machine. :"(
The avhdx is created after you take the snapshot. The vhdx is the original file. You May need to merge them for this to work. Use Hyper-V manager to inspect the disks so you know which is the parent image.
Make copies of everything before you try to create a new VM!

RE: Ideas For New GPO's

We will soon be purchasing some Dell servers with Server 2012 and I will need to setup some group policies once we bring all centers under 1 domain.
I plan to create a policy to enable PS Remoting across the domain. What are some other GPO's I should consider creating?
Use Group Policy Prefernces wherever you can. Item level targeting makes mapping different drives to different users incredibly easy. One GPO to rule them all! Use these for desktop shortcuts too.
I am also using GPO's to set IE compatibility view and trusted sites etc. Windows updates especially with multiple locations. you can use GPO's to configure BITS throttling to save bandwidth during the day or schedule WSUS etc.

RE: WDS Remove legacy Images
There shouldn't be any problem. Remove it from WDS before you delete any files and you should be good.

RE: Hyper-V Failover Cluster 2012R2 with Windows 10 Node?
Hyper-V server 2012 R2 is a completely free and fully functional stand alone product. It is GUI free but you can manage it through the usual tools. Server Manager works great. You can download it from the Microsoft Technet Evaluation Center
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-hyper-v-server-2012-r2
And yes, clustering is an available feature.

RE: AD Sync between two Sites
@gjacobse you may want to check your site link replication schedule. The default is 180 minutes. You can drop it down to 15 minutes
