Actually this fully depends on the cert.
As I understand it, the Linux certs have a hands on portion - here is a broken something -fix it. That makes that certification worth something to me.
I agree if there is a lab portion of it for sure
So I guess the question now goes - is there a hierarchy of IT-related certifications and/or degrees? Are some deemed "better" and more "legit" than others?

One definition I did not include in my article was a definition provided via an off-Spiceworks conversation with a friend over at, well, SW.
According to him, this is what an IT Pro is: "Generally, an IT pro is someone with certifications and training as a system administrator, DevOps, network administrator, or other comparable training and works within the IT department for their organization"
How do you feel about his definition?

Yeah remember we are an IT forum and while it's fun to talk about stupid stuff. Nothing that will cause flame wars or attacking each other. Honestly I am one Community Manager I don't want to deal with it. And shouldn't have to either.
And, in the same vein, it's really a community for people striving to be IT Pros. Not AV Club kids.

My whole week has been surrounded around "what is a IT Pro" - currently still dealing with the issue... whatever, it will make a great blog later

Actually it's the old bedroom. It's the bedroom that we used from 2010 - 2013. Just haven't been in it in three years.
I will be doing the same thing soon - switching rooms around. The worst part will be figuring out cable (which I don't use) and the best place for the WiFi extender
We wired the house so we have six Ethernet jacks in the new bedroom (only four in the old one.) No need for cable or wifi, it's all GigE Ethernet to every room in the house.
