    • RE: New Years Resolutions?

My big one is to be more mindful and own myself and my actions. Broken down it looks like this.

      • Continue to transform my body. I am at the point I won't say lose weight, as it is more than that. I am down 100lbs in the last 5 years, not it is more about gaining muscle, and lowering body fat than having a number goal.
      • Meditate more and own my thoughts and mental processes. Disconnect my feelings and wants from my actions, and delay actions until I know why I am acting.
      • Cut down alcohol. It has been heavier than I want, and doesn't align with my goals.
      • Desire less. I have cut my possessions down by about 30-40% percent, and I want to keep going, less overhead, less stress, focus more on experiences and time spent with my daughter and less about buying and maintaining things.

I have wondered too about the transitional desk. Though I can't stand for extended periods due to nerve damage and now it would seem a bad ankle.

I've used them and I love them. I REALLY want a walking desk, with a treadmill. But feel like I'd fall over.

NOPE, could not walk and type, standing was enough of an adjustment.

So you bought a white wood desk and then sawed the legs off of that table to create this? Do you have pictures of the end result? I can't stand all day or sit all day. I feel like a transitional desk would work wonders.

I'm 6 foot tall so I didn't have to cut the legs at all. Here is a picture of my desk. I move between the table and the regular desk. 0_1482940247881_IMG_0478.JPG

I wonder if you can walk while reading, then easily stand still while typing. That would solve it.

I don't think I can walk and read.... I have never tried.

I don't but often think about the fact I should. I have started looking at the type that will sit on my regular desk and just raise up and down.

Yeah, they are nice, but many of them are several hundred dollars. The IKEA table was $7.99

I have a IKEA Lack table that sits in the corner of my cube that I put my laptop on and stand. I try to use it for a couple hours a day. Does anyone else stand to work or do anything else to ward of the health affects of sitting for 8 hours a day?

Awesome, I really want an Apple Watch. I gave the one that I had to my wife.

Yeah, a smart watch is not a must have, but once you get used to one, it sucks going with out.

Christmas is over, did anybody get anything cool?

After I got rid of my beloved Pebble before it stopped working due to the FitBit buy out, my lovely wife and daughter presented me with a new Apple watch.

Tamale spread from a Joplin classic, Fred & Red's. It is my first time back since the re-opening. It is a greasy spoon diner that has been around close to 100 years. Serving spaghetti red, burgers and tamales.

      When did it close?

Opened in 1923, closed in 2012. They reopened last month under new management, food is exactly the same.

Preston Lacy from Jackass is from my home town and comes back here all the time. I run into him at local bars. Super nice guy, but being the 1 celebrity in town, We try to leave him alone and not make stupid jokes while the guy is just trying to go out for a beer in peace.

You should try and make him feel more welcome by like, kicking him in the crotch, or something.

Yeah that is the thing. Every drunk A-Hole yells out "Hey It's Jackass", and wants him to do a stunt. He just wants to drink a few beers at a quiet table. He seems to genuinely appreciate just saying "Hey Preston" and raising a glass in his direction.

I just hope FitBit has fixed the problem with the adhesives on their bands. I've had to super glue my band on for the second time in a year.

If you email them and ask they will send you a brand new one. They did for my wife twice now.

Mine is already out of warranty. I did have them do that the first time. The second band was better -- it lasted almost a full year... If you are telling me they'll still ship me another one, then dang, I need to go to their site and see!

It is worth sending them an email and asking. I can't remember if hers was a year old or not, but I know she got the same one replaced twice.

    • Goodbye Pebble

I am not sure if anyone here was a Pebble user or not. I had my Pebble Classic for about a year and loved it. 2 Weeks ago I decided to take the plunge and get a Pebble 2 + HR. Then today the announcement came out that FitBit had for sure bought Pebble, they will be closing Pebble, all non-shipped orders and Kickstarter backing will be canceled and refunded, they will begin phasing out cloud features of the watch, etc. etc. I still had my receipt, and Best Buy honored their return policy and I got a full refund. It sucks, I guess I will have to save up for an Apple Watch as it has been 4 hours and I already kinda miss it. Has anyone else had a technology company just disappear after you bought the hardware?

    • RE: What router are you using at home?

ASUS RT-AC56U And DD-WRT firmware. Works like a charm for what I need. I did have a problem where it would get slow and need a reboot every few week. I just scheduled a reboot every day at 6AM and it hasn't been an issue since.

I read that already, and the Navy admitted to installing the software to thousands of computer systems, without being licensed (but with the developers permission).

Um.... Hey Scott, I give you permission to drain my bank account.

Hey thanks man, I'll get on that...
