I don't know if youtube itself will kill broadcast TV but I think a combination of things will. I am not a tween, nor am I a millennial, however I do have teenagers and they have found good content on youtube that we do watch together now. I cut the cable a long time ago with Netflix and then with Amazon Prime. If there is a show on one of the networks that I do want and they are not on Netflix or Amazon then I just buy the season. Still cheaper.

Ubuntu 8.04 will be as small as 81MB on disk, and just 30MB when compressed for download.
I agree, supporting old stuff is a financial disaster.
It took me a second to realize that your comment about "I agree, support old stuff is a financial disaster" was agreeing with @Tim_G statement because your link text says Ubuntu 8.04 but links to an article about Ubuntu 18.04.

@aaronstuder That's actually a nice looking terminal. If only the download were working.
I had to make sure I was downloading from Sourceforge, I had to choose that and not use their default download button or else it was going to take 12 hours.

RE: Coffee may cause cancer...
Just give it a few months and then some expert (which means that they really don't know anything) will say it cures cancer. See:

RE: Looking for indoor & outdoor camera
I don't believe they have a 360. But at the price of their cameras you could get the job done with multiple cameras at the fraction of the cost of a 360 camera.

It's a day for printers. . . 3 tickets this morning alone. .
We got 30 something tickets yesterday morning before 10am for new user accounts that had to be ready by today.
A couple of weeks ago we had someone walk into the IT department and say, this is our new hire... do you have a laptop for him? We all looked at each other blankly as no one ever told us that there was a new hire starting that day.

Wrapped our AC ductwork in a fleece blanket today that I taped into place. That appears to have dramatically improved the efficiency of our air conditioning!
Amazing what a little insulation can do....
We had maybe 2" of insulation in our house when I bought it. Blew in a ton of cellulose insulation. Amazed at the difference.

What type of specs should I be looking at for about 800 users and 450 machines? Doing their implementation of AD and basic file services?

I am pulling my hair out. 20 new hires all started yesterday. 20 new attorneys..... young fresh out of law school. They don't look old enough to drive, and soon they will have a license to practice law. I feel really old now.

RE: Enterprise backup: Citrix XenServer, RHEV, oVirt, KVM
@matteo-nunziati Yes, I treat them independently. Which I would love to have the Veeam Appliance which can control them but money is too tight for that. That is a downside but if I get enough money eventually and then want to switch to a different hypervisor I can do that from my Veeam backups very easily.

@penguinwrangler said in Who is Two Month and Why Was He Imprisoned?:
After reading this thread I have to say that Scott's argument was more compelling. Let me tell you why.
1.) I was a prison guard for 6 years. I always assume people are not telling the truth.
2.) I now work with attorneys which has taught me if something is left vague, it is not for my benefit.
3.) Also because of the attorneys, people will use doublespeak which will result in them implying one thing but actually meaning the opposite.
Which boils down to the fact that you have to always ask questions, even if they are obvious and nail people down to what they exactly mean. You are the only person that can look out for you.4.) Always get answers and explanations in writing. -- potentially even if you don't feel a need to CYA.
Always do number four when money or relatives are involved. Especially if both are involved.

RE: Pi Hole
@nerdydad I believe he has it on a virtual machine. Ubuntu 16.04 I believe. 1 vCPU and 1GB of Memory 20GB Hard Drive. The addition of Fedora and CentOS is relatively new. When it first started they didn't have them as an option, and actually, Raspbian was the only supported OS at the very beginning.

RE: Category 5 Hurricane DSL Antenna
@tim_g said in Category 5 Hurricane DSL Antenna:
I agree with making it portable.
You can see hurricanes coming days in advance. Take it apart and put it away.
Personally, since CAT 5 is total destruction, the antenna would be closer to the bottom of the list of things I care about.
I agree. CAT 5 to me is what it is like when EF5 tornado hits (I live in Tornado Alley). My work has employees who lived in Joplin when it was hit. When something like that hits then I am sorry but I could care less about a damn antenna and who has internet.
