I think it depends on who you are catering your site/services to.
Generally, I feel .com is the gold standard for business and enterprise. For personal stuff, it doesn't matter. Like your site, eddiejennings.net, perfectly fine.
Maybe for younger people, one of the newer hundreds of weird TLDs seems like a good idea, but I still feel like .com and .net are the only ones I would ever consider. (except for country-specific TLDs like .se, .it, etc - those are fine if it makes sense)

We should have a salt states file tag, strictly for salt states files. I'll populate it as I make them. I see you have a few on here that could be added.

ReaR is great as agent based backup for image based recovery and inceementals. For file based, I like FWBackups.

They want every physical and virtual server backed up at least weekly.
If a stateless server goes down, I don't have time to rebuild it. I am also not at a place to fully implement Salt to redeploy every damn server we have... we have 100+ servers and most of them are all different. That's a lot of work.
Yes, in an ideal environment it wouldn't be like that. But it takes time to get there, and there aren't enough of us to do it now, and there are many higher priority things going on atm. But it's getting closer.
There's also the issue of me being "the man behind the curtain" like the Wizard of OZ. It was brought up that implementing so many different things like SS, NC, this, that, and the other thing isn't desirable because of the hit by the bus issue...
So politics are another thing.
Anyways, ReaR works great for servers... I use it, and am glad I do. It's already proved itself!!
Create a completely new forest and domain. Then you can manually input the users, backup/restore the GPOs over, join the PCs to the new domain, etc.

This is extremely foolish to not go to Server 2016, especially while 2012 R2 is set to lose MS support soon.

Ideally, they sound great and look great on paper, but in practice, they break and cause issues the more you use it and the more users use it.

I've been doing a lot of Cloud work lately along with API automation (Azure, AWS, ServiceNow). This type of work, along with a primary focus on Cloud Security, and skills in DevOps technologies (jenkins, terraform, packer, etc) is the direction I want to go. MDM via the Clouds is nice as well. Depending on how the CCSK goes, maybe even a main focus on Cloud Security career, with the other stuff as a skill/ability set.
The job market in the above aspect is growing and it pays very well in most locations. I feel I would enjoy spending a fair amount of time in this career, before moving to a focus in management, perhaps ending up at CIO level in the not-so-far-out future.
I put together a list of courses to to help get things moving along, where if I stick to it, should be able to complete within the next 4 months.
I will start with the Azure stuff, as that will have the most immediate benefits both personally and with my current job / role.
I'm going to stock up on Udemy courses as a "new student" for the discount of like $12 per course (except the $67 AWS course). I'm likely going to get these, and am wondering if you would alter this list in any way?:
So for those 7 courses, I'm looking at roughly $150. I think that's a good buy and since those courses are good for life and currently being updated according to reviews. It could be the best $150 I ever spent. Time availability for this stuff... we will make it happen.
What do you all think of that career path in regards to viability, market, etc.? What about the course list?
I'm thinking about careers such as Cloud Architect, Cloud Administrator, Cloud Security Architect, Cloud Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure... etc., pick your word.

Just an FYI: it's not a backup when it's the only data. If you back up your VMs, then delete the originals, you no longer have a backup. All you have then is original data with no backup! Proceed wisely.
I thought it would be good to give an update on how the headphones are holding up to my usage and expectations.
Just a reminder, I got the Sennheiser PXC 550. They are over/around-ear Bluetooth noise-cancelling headphones.
So I've been using them almost daily now for the past almost 4 months, about 45-60 minutes each way to/from work on the train. I don't always use the noise cancelling on the train, but when I do, it shuts up what I am trying to avoid hearing pretty well. 
I also use them at home for watching Udemy courses, at work, music for R&R at home, and sometimes for a video game. I usually use them wirelessly, but sometimes I hook them up to my computer's USB while listening when they need a charge. The charge still lasts well over 20+ hours. I don't time it, but it lasts weeks before needing a charge. Definitely 2+ weeks, depending on usage, which I mentioned above, give or take.
I found out a co-worker has had the same pair for years, and they also still look and work like new.
To wrap up, they are definitely holding up well, and surpassed my expectations. I definitely recommend!

I don't remember for sure but I think it's rdp sessions are disabled by default.
Yes, it's basically registry keys, so whatever method you can use to remotely change registry keys will work... powershell, device management software, via cmd, whatever.
