To ask the question again, does your own personal business actually require HA? Or would Near-HA be good enough?

I would like the avaliblity that if one server goes off, the whole things doesn't shit the bed.

Running web servers, PBX Servers, Jira server, DC's

and some other custom stuff for doctors to get into .

      @DustinB3403 said in Ovirt:

So to ask a few questions.

what about the scale system are you unable to support?
So here was a situation that I had, A hard drive failed and the system wouldn't recognize the new harddrive I put in. So I had to call them to do something in the backend to active port 2 to reanalyze and make the drive active
is cost the only thing that makes the scale system unsupportable?
Yes cost I want to know commands to make sure if something goes wrong I can fix it.

if you are concerned about the scale solution dieing and support issues for that, how does moving to oVirt fix those concerns besides support contracts?

I would build it and know the bones and how it function. Beside the hardware I will know how. to fix things if it breaks.m

@DustinB3403 yes that is correct. I have a scale cluster already 1150. But its 3 years old. Harddrives are failing. And I cant manage it at all. It just runs and that's it.

Afraid if it craps out I am screwed.

OK, Sorry So, Here is there deal. I have a scale cluster that I can't manage. It is 3 years old and the support contract is not affordable, I am a small business. I have no way to maintain it. So I want to build something That I can manage and administer etc. I have 3 Dell R710, That I would Like to setup. I have a D2D4324 - G2 with 96gb for ram and 20tb..

Thats what I am trying to do I dont like shared storage. Its a single point of failure.

Is there anyway to set this up without shared storage. Have stripped storage across the clusters. and not need another device,

    • RE: Server 2012 Hyper V Cluster

I basically want to use the storage in the servers to replicate to each node. So if one goes off I still have two other servers.

I was thinking about Maxtra software, or using Ovirt.

    • RE: locking down network

so basically I am helping with my church/School , they need to connect to apple/android store. youtube. but social media sites locked down and p2p networks and anything inappropriate for k-12.

So OpenDNS is doing the trick for now., However there is no cherry picking, and certain users need the ability to connect to facebook as well. Posting via webpage what is going on in school etc.

      Thats the situation at hand.

They received a letter that someone on the network was downloading from BitTorrent. and it broke digital media anti-piracy law. etc. So they are naturally freaking out.

This is something I want to setup and walk away.. I am just doing this to help them.

So open dns does give you an option like. for instance apple store. I want to be able to get to that. but if I select p2p it blocks everyone

    • locking down network

I am currently using opendns as a net nanny for the network. I was wondering does the Unbiquti er-3 lite have the capability of locking down the network?

or what else can I put in place beside open dns. Cause I have to cherry pick certain sites
