Ping times after running a few minutes:
      Ping statistics for 192.168.1.19:
      Packets: Sent = 244, Received = 244, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
      Minimum = 1ms, Maximum = 8ms, Average = 1ms

It seems like the last time I ran it, I had some time outs. I'll run a longer ping.

    • RE: Windows credential manager

Good idea to check DNS. One of the things I tried to do was create a new Outlook profile and that failed - so that is something that should be checked.

yes, updates were out of date when I first connected to the machine. It was a remote user with a domain machine that couldn't contact the WSUS server. I forced it out to Microsoft's update server and patched it up to date.

It's lagged in there pretty good. I don't think it's moving without something breaking.

Both are mounted to the building like this. It doesn't seem like they can move.

    • Windows credential manager

I have a user running Windows 10 and Outlook 2016. He continually gets prompted for his password. I repeatedly tried deleting the entry for it in credential manager and letting it recreate and then tried creating it manually and launching Outlook. Sometimes it creates it with persistence: enterprise and sometimes with persistence: logon session. Has anyone had this issue?

As you can see, the tree tops may be an issue in some years.

      The weather has been clear.

I set up a similar wireless bridge and they don't have problems with VoIP calls.

The line of sight is clear in that I can see the access point from the other. One thing I don't understand is do you need much room around the line of sight? For example, at a certain channel width, do you need 1 meter on all sides of the line of sight?

    • Ubiquiti wifi bridge static on VoIP calls

I set up a couple Ubiquiti NanoBeam AC (NBE-5AC-16) access points in a bridge about 400 meters apart. I updated the firmware, disconnected the old site to site VPN, connected the bridge and traffic started flowing. I then went in to the alignment tool and it looked so good I decided I didn't need to go back on the rooftop and align them. I then ran a speed test with a channel width of 80 Mhz and reached the theoretical maximum so I figured I was good. 0_1462362791519_speedTest03-channelWidth80.png

As I tested the connection by running pings across, I noticed that they were inconsistent. Many were 1ms, but others were 3ms or much higher. I figured it would be better than the old internet based site to site VPN, so I left it in production. Later that morning, users were calling and I had to drop back to the VPN. When they called me on their VoIP phones, I noticed static on the call.

I did some reading and it looks like I might have to drop the channel width down. I tried dropping it remotely and running a speed test, and it took the speed from 451Mbps to 145Mbps, which is still acceptable as long as the connection is more stable. Is that the right thing to do, or should I be looking at other things? I should add the main reason I wanted to put in the wireless bridge is that the site to site VPN connection isn't stable enough for their terminal server sessions.

    • RE: QuickBooks install error

@Mike-Davis Selective startup for the win. Not sure what was stopping it, but when I installed it before, it never got to the part of the install where it asked about running updates. This time when I ran the repair, it did that, and then when I launched it for the first time, it completed the initial config.

Running as admin. I have been hesitant to call QuickBooks support since running on a terminal server is only support for Enterprise Edition and they have non for profit edition. Also if step one is to reboot the server, I can't do that right now. I guess I'll engage them and see where that goes.

      no QBhelp.exe running.

      Tried Rename the EntitlementDataStore.ecml file

      Tried reinstalling QuickBooks.

I'll have to try the selective startup later.

    • QuickBooks install error

I had QuickBooks 2013 installed on a Windows Server 2008 Terminal Server. I tried to install QuickBooks 2015 and I'm getting an error when I try to launch it for the first time. At the end of the "QuickBooks Product Configuration" I get the error "An error occured while attempting to reconfigure your new edition of QuickBooks. You must temporarily return to your previous edition by reinstalling it fom the original CD..."

I tried putting the old version on as it suggested and that didn't help. I also tried removing all the QuickBooks files in various directories to do a clean install. I haven't run msconfig to disable all non microsoft stuff, but I have disabled antivirus.

It doesn't seem to make a difference if I launch the "Install Application on Terminal Server" from control panel.

I had this happen on a Windows VM where the ESXi host time server was set to nist.time.gov The DNS server was set to a DNS server that I decommissioned about a month after I built the ESXi host... One day the VM restarted, grabbed the time from the host and was off by a bit.

I said that to say we'll need a little more information to be able to figure out why yours drifted...

    • RE: thin client for Server 2012 R2 remote desktop

From what I found, if you have licenses, you can activate them then hack your registry to get the older clients to work. I haven't been able to reproduce that in my lab.

The size comes to the fact that I have metal brackets on the back of the monitors that fit the Wyse P20. If I can find something that fits that, I can just swap them out and it makes for a quicker set up and tear down of the room.

I came across this thread, and it the Remix Mini might work. http://mangolassi.it/topic/7992/remix-mini-as-a-thin-client/3

I tested connecting to the 2012 R2 server from a tablet and that works.

    • thin client for Server 2012 R2 remote desktop

I have a training room with 12 seats that is using Wyse P20s to connect to VMware View/Horizon currently. I discovered that I can't connect the P20 to Windows Server 2012 R2 remote desktop because the P20 has RDS 5 installed and Server 2008 R2 and up require RDS 6 clients.

Can anyone recommend a RDS 6 or higher thin client? I'm looking for something that supports a single monitor and will fit in an 8"x6"x2" enclosure.

Does anyone have an thin clients using wireless? That would be nice since they get remove and installed a lot and it would be one less wire to connect.
