Hopefully they get someone to come in and be active. Since they are not active "over there" any longer, it is that much better of an opportunity to be busy here!
That's a good idea! I'll run it by a few people.

I have some vendors in Carrolton; great place in the DFW area!
(Well... and NTG obviously. )

Don't you hate it when you're the last to know...:P
How about a bidding war? I'll do $50k remote from Houston. Signed, sealed, delivered.
I'll match that! But from Dallas!
Haha you can have it, I'll stick to procurement; rather not throw away 7yrs of experience moving into an IT admin position in all reality.
EDIT: If you need a remote supply chain guy...

Haha I am, that's why I get paid the big bucks holmes.
Great to see you again!

@Hubtech Vancouver would require him to get a visa for which he does not qualify.
I thought Canada was pretty friendly to "skilled professionals" in getting visas, am I all wonky on that?
Matt checking in from Houston; thanks for the heads up about this by the way.
Just a logistics/IT geek doing purchasing for ServerMonkey.com.
For everyone that was at SpiceWorld this last year I was the taller one of the group with the tattoos; AdventureTime avatar on [Edit: place that should not be named ;-)].
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
Love the community engagement figuring this out, now I'm curious.

Hey everyone!
I just wanted to announce that I am resigning from my position in purchasing at ServerMonkey.com. I will probably stick around in the community here and there, but all further contact for business should be directed towards one of the contacts below.
Due to my past military experience, I believe that a position in an industrial setting would be more appropriate. I hold everyone here in the highest regard and wish to maintain a positive relationship with everyone here. I will be assembling the supply chain department for a local oil/gas company and am very excited for the future. It's been a very bittersweet week for me.
Feel free to reach out, I'm friends with SAM on Facebook, and my LinkedIn is below.

Thanks so much,

I actually haven't read that one yet. I think that's a great way of approaching problems in more than just IT, the whole "Things you don't know you don't know" scenario.
+1 for you!
@ajstringham This might be a long-shot but have you compared your ifconfig- a output to your /etc/network/interfaces output on your Ubuntu VM? What about using just NAT? Maybe the actual NIC/hardware doesn't "like" (very technical) IP aliasing since apt traffic on a NAT config is working.
(Just my train of thought, might be completely irrelevant.)
Thanks for all the warm wishes; obviously I'll stick around for the 9-5 conversation in the least. I mostly wanted to avoid an "Oh, I don't work there anymore" conversation. I assumed since I was emailing my vendors, I should drop a line here as well!

I should point out that thus far, I've not see any problems like this here. ML is really a great community. But as we grow, the need for this will increase so I am just being proactive.
Even if these aren't a fresh read per-se, it's nice to have some of these gems come over to ML.
This is fantastic, good job over there guys! @Nic
Sure showed Microsoft not to meddle outside their domain.
We're going to have convertible sit/stand desks at our new facility; I'll post some pictures once we get settled in next month!
@ajstringham Fair enough; "If it fits, I sits" just offering a look!
@scottalanmiller Honestly I wasn't involved when we were looking at them; looks like Amazon has them for $275 on the small one.
Note: Called the Vari-Desk.
