      @wls-itguy We use MeshCentral as well, its just a nice product. Then for those that are on Apples or Mobiles that can't use MC, Anydesk works pretty well.

      Glad Assuming the drives could be identified as to what is RAID, could you have removed the redundant set, then progressed with the reset and if it worked, great. If not, then you could have put the redundant set back in and not have lost anything other than the time and knowledge that the drives were indeed encrypted?

    • RE: Photo Backup And Sharing

      @scottalanmiller There are systems that do that. Whether this has it or not, I don't know. You've seen where some can actually categorize photos by individual in them. Granted, most of my issue is real duplicates (kind of) ... I'll have the same photo in 6 different folders, then the old ones have different date/time stamps, and would be nice to have the "correct" date/time stamp. Also - get rid of the duplicates of different sizes, such as when you send a photo over your phone to a friend, it makes a copy that is resized. Even with de-duplicators ... its a lot of work.

    • RE: Photo Backup And Sharing

      @JaredBusch noticed that several photos are duplicates, but not exact. Example, taking a photo and then take it again with flash to see which turns out better. Reality is you want only one of those, will it help you identify so you can select which to keep and which to trash?

      @JaredBusch Sure would be nice if the Edgerouter DPI would know about off-site backups. Would have allowed you to isolate it real quick.

      @Dragon3303
      It all boils down to competition. If there's competition in the area, the prices will become more and more affordable, but when they have little to no competition - they really jack those rates up.

    • RE: Amazon Prime Day - Oct 2020

      @JasGot I like mine higher, but then use a Pan Tilt swivel on my 70" ... this way when in the couch, it is pointing "Down" towards you. Also nice with the pan / swivel ... you can be in the kitchen, and just swing it that direction, or whichever way works best.

      @JaredBusch how are you liking the Fanvil? Price/performance specs stack up nicely against some of the others, so how is your real-world experience with it?

    • RE: Yealink phones

      @scottalanmiller Not at all. You set the BLF so that it doesn't matter which extension they are on, people still see you as on the phone. When the press the BLF to call you - it calls in on your primary. There's lots you can do with it and its all about making it easier for the user. They don't want to bother with pressing an extra button / code to dial out on their direct line.

    • RE: Yealink phones

      @scottalanmiller If you ever have a client that has both the office line, and a direct extension, you can find a need for 2 lines. Sometimes they want to call out as the office, but other times they want to dial out as their direct line DID.

    • RE: Getting up and running with ER-X?

      @scottalanmiller I've never really liked that business model. I need my clients to be successful and grow their business. That's why we charge them very little to get up and running, usually just the hard cost of the phones, because then we charge them for the phone service, such that we get to have them as clients for years with a nice small return monthly over many years that will equal that 5K number or more. I'd guess his 5k box doesn't come with a ton of support and maintenance either?

      @scottalanmiller - OK have to know ... what exactly happened? I thought he only sold FreePBX setups and how could he set that up costing $5K unless its the cost of phones that ran it up.

      @Pete-S look up youtube videos by Lawrence Systems. I think he does a great job of explaining things and is where I turned to when I first started using them.

    • RE: Parental Control options: AD, LDAP, piHole, Other

      @WLS-ITGuy

      It was pretty F'ing funny. I knew it would happen and I just blamed - Hey - I have to test out all the potentials. Then followed it up by how can we expect the kids if we don't set the example.

      As far as locking things down, it hard, because then they say they need to do research for a project and such. Keeping an eye on them and reviewing the history and good communication skills is important.

      I've installed Circle which allows to set time constraints and such. It also has safety measures for websites visited, but whether its enough I think depends on the kids using it. Boy did my wife get pissed when I set her to a max of 7 hours of being on the internet and she used it by 5pm LOL.
