Also taking my son to the Dallas zoo to see the christmas lights and a few things there later today. He wanted to go and I don't want to disappoint.

RE: Why I Choose LibreOffice
@scottalanmiller said in Why I Choose LibreOffice:
I think that that is most of it. Basically, the things that LO shines at (cost, ease of management, licensing, platform compatibility) affect us a lot. And the things that LO is poor at (extensive features, desktop email app, compatibility with partners) don't affect us much, or at all. And the one big "wish list" item I have is for a better web-based experience (but LO7 should improve that soon.)
I think a lot of organizations could just drop MS office and move to something else and be better for it. I don't think it is just your company. Those things you list that LibreOffice is poor at, are things that most companies probably have little need for themselves if they were really honest with themselves. Think of the money they could be saving. They could pay their people a little better and get better talent because they pay better. Their company would be more efficient as a result. I really just dislike MS office for many of the reasons you suggested. When I voice it as responses I have realized how much I dislike it and why.

@jmoore I've drank there a few times. The Dallas Zoo is good for that.
Yeah we had a fun time. Me and Percy did our electronica dance impressions in the strobe tunnel.

Creating a Zip Folder for my ISO of Server 2019 to put onto a flash drive so I can Use it at my house after I install Fedora 31 and KVM to practice Windows AD for hands on practice.
apparently even after creating a zip file it's too large to transfer..
I carry a 128 gb drive with all of my documentation, installables, and license info on me all the time. Been too many times when network was down or I was off campus and had to install something.

Mine is a 128 too, but it was using Fat32 not NTFS.
Had to reformat the drive; go tit reformatted and the file copied over with no issues.Oh I see. You are correct, that's what you have to do.

@WrCombs I did Choco based VBox installs last night!
ha Nice ! i opened VBox and it said there was an upgrade available, decided it was a good time to go a head and upgrade that.
I run mine headless. I automate it from the command line via MeshCentral.
Wonder what it would take to automate upgrades like that via Powershell.. New project!
Make a script for what you want to do and use task manager I believe is one way.

Bought my wife a copy of Titan Quest... bad idea Still a great game which supports LAN-only multiplayer - sadly, most older games don't play well with with virtual NICs from Hyper V and Docker Desktop.
Looks like an early rendition of WoW.
It's more like Diablo. Great game for its time
like Diablo and Diablo 2?
More like D2 or PoE. The interesting aspect is that you can combine two classes, like rogue + mage or rune + defender.
I guess you aren't talking about Power over Ethernet?
My bad: Path of Exile, really worth it. Free 2 Play without Pay 2 Win. You can only buy chest space, character slots and cosmetics, but nothing that makes you more powerful in any way.
That's awesome. I've never looked at this but sounds like I should.

If you were a fan of Diablo 2 you'd love Path of Exile. Even Grim Dawn, another phenomenal hack-n-slash, doesn't hold a candle to PoE.
Yeah I played a lot of Diablo 2. Think I still have some save files around.

Monday Morning Coffee, "Staff meeting" , and Email purge are all done\started.
Follow ups from the weekend, and planning the week;Oh ; My team won 8/5 In our Dart Game yesterday (I play league) with the highest MPRs and everyone shot above their average My Sunday was great.
in light of that timing shit last week - you should turn in a time log daily - explaining how much time daily you spend doing different tasks... the question is wither or not to include things like bathroom breaks and water cooler talk, or pad those into one of the other non client billing times, assuming the discussion is in fact non billing.
The whole point being to show that it's your availability that they are paying for, not just the time you are working on billable projects/break-fixes.
Oh; you missed it?
I talked to his boss, and we came to the conclusion that I'm fine,He can't tell me dick about anything, and He seems to think he's in charge.
and if I ever need to work from home; Tell Supervisor to Fuck Off. and that His boss Said It's fine. That's great news and how it should be. Happy for you.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
@hobbit666 There is no proof because if there was you would hear about it nonstop. Even if they are caught doing something , to me, its no worse than what Samsung, apple, and Microsoft, and Google already do. I'll go ahead and say I'm partial to them just so you know. The reason why is that I used Apple and Samsung devices for years but nothing ever last a year hardly without being dropped or anything. I think I had one Samsung last a year and 2 months for the longest. After that they just quit working right or not at all. Maybe I've had bad luck or an anomaly, I don't know. All I know is that my 2 Huawei phones have been the best devices I ever used. I have a Mate 9 and 10 and never a single issue with either. The mate 9 is my work phone and I use all day every day. I can't tell a speed difference and it came with 64 gb storage so still have plenty of room 3 years later. Even after dropping and partly cracking the screen I cant tell a difference in how it works. My Mate 10 has a similar story except it hasnt been dropped and has 128 gb storage.

@jmoore I do have a lab server running proxmox, I will setup a Windows VM on that going forward I think. I'm leaving windows on my laptop though because I create music on that and I don't think it would run good in WINE.
Ok I get that. However, don't forget that there is almost always comparable software in Linux that runs just as well or better. It usually seems better because of the underlying Linux in place.
