Wow. Just wow

I have been awake again for hours now. Apparently as my body ages, actual sleep hours needed drops dramatically. Ugh!

or

place a switch (switch B) near the servers and run 1 cable from switch B to switch A?

Introducing new hardware (a switch) may be a stopgap, if the end intent running cables. Don't add a hardware failure point. Less is more as they say

Webroot can lock down the hosts file if configured that way (and it should be). Create another group in Webroot with identical setting sans the hosts setting. Apply this to the machines, fix the hosts, and move the systems back to fully protected

It's not THAT infrequent, that's the thing. Every apartment building uses that excuse, but this is like the fifth time we've had an event that causes buildings to get destroyed by not being built correctly. That's every two to three years!

WHile this cold snap was severe, it's not THAT severe. It's only the fourth worst in 150 years, very far from a record. It's bad, but not unexpected. And with climate change, that weather will be more dynamic and severe is expected. So this is absolutely anything but a surprise.

This week in TX reminds me of a normal February growing up. You shoveled out, and went to school. Of course, back then we had to walk up hill in both directions.

When we hit temps like this, my body reminds me why it has been so happy at these more southern latitudes.

Unlike many in this area, we have been lucky. No power issues and plenty of food.

I think the Groundhog did this! He said there would be 6 more weeks of winter, and Texas said, "Hold my beer! We can do this in 6 days"

Back in the early 90s when colored screens were a luxury and the main desktop OS was 3 characters, I wrote an ERP system for a manufacturing company in C. One of the secretaries there did her very best to make me a better programmer. It seemed to be her mission.

I would like to say that I have not spoken to people who disagreed with the title. I would like to, but...

I moved a test AP to 4.3.28.11361 yesterday. No issues experienced. I moved some additional ones this AM, and still no issue with DHCP like with the 4.3.24.x version

We had the same issue with this firmware version. A reboot restored things for us, on all but one AP. I pushed 4.3.21.11325 back to them all, and life returned to normal.
I found it odd that they ran for over 3 days on 4.3.24.11355 before an issue was noticed in the warehouse.

It seems they are giving away RHEL on a limited scale as a "replacement for CentOS" at small scale (up to 16 servers)

Chocolatey is more flexible, but PDQ is super simple. We implement PDQ here currently, as it was an uphill battle to get anything going. Now that the benefits are seen, many roads have opened.

I am all for automation, and open source is a plus. Salt may be the next venture, as it looks like a fleet of Pis, and an expansion of Linux servers may be in our future.

Chocolately and PDQ are both very easy to utilize.

Long night working on some side projects... Starting my work day now.

I have been experimenting with the NEO case with the Pi4 for warehouse workers. It has been just ok so far. It lacks a power button and some things have a bit of a dwell time to get rolling. Most of the lag seems to be at app startup, so I am hoping an m.2 will make it "feel" more responsive to users.
Temperatures are acceptable even if overclocked to 2000. I did a torture test and could not get it above 62c.
