      This time she's telling me that she feels the issue is 90%+ around Excel.

      Do other users EVER access the SAME Excel documents?
      If other people open the same file, do they have issues?
      When you gave her a new machine, did she get a new user profile too?
      Do you use Folder Redirection or Roaming Profiles?

      I have seen this many times. ALWAYS in Law Firms and sometimes in churches. It is usually MS WORD in Law Firms, and Publisher in Churches.

      If happens when someone edits and saves as, repeatedly, forever. They created a document several years ago and saved it. Then they opened it, made changes, and saved it under a new name. then they open the new document, edit it, save it under a new name, and repeat this over and over.

      It happens in law firms with trusts and wills, and it happens in churches with weekly bulletins, funeral programs, etc. Often these edit/Save as/ Repeat cycles will also span MS Office upgrades, so you then add those nuances into the mix.

      In all cases, making them stop using the document over and over and creating a new one from scratch will fix the problem.

      The issue is that MS Office apps keep all the revision history in the document, so it doesn't take long (especially if the document spans new versions) before the document is so cluttered with trash, that it causes all these flake issues.

      I hope this is your issue, because it is easy to fix. Good luck!

      There is a condenser for the IT AC unit right outside her office. I'm sure the power runs through the wall near where her computer sits. I moved the computer away from the outside wall a few years ago, requiring installing longer cables for monitors, keyboards, etc. Yet the problems continue, granted The computer only moved maybe 4 feet from that wall.
      I could maybe get her computer 6 feet away if I completely reconfigure her desk, though I'm sure she won't like that, or likely allow it.

      This is a troubleshooting tip, but I don't think it is your problem. Make sure you are not on the same circuit as the AC unit, if you are worried about EMF, go to the hardware and a 36"x36" piece of sheet metal and place it beside the PC on the AC unit side, as a shield.

      I am an Intermedia Reseller and I can't stand their system. Plus as a partner, the end user cannot call Intermedia for support. This is no fun.

      Are you looking for a reseller/partner solution? Then I would look at 3CX They have the business model.

      Yes. I want to interact with the end user for config of features only (OS and app maintenance handled by anyone other than me) and I want revenue from the sale of hardware and setup, and I want recurring revenue from monthly fees. The recurring revenue must be charged to me so I can bill the customer at my rates.

      This function. It is not new. It has existed since day 1 with Yealink.

      b49d6691-69c7-47a3-9518-a165b10c7d9b-image.png

      In a config file it looks like this:

      programablekey.2.type = 22
      programablekey.2.label = Shared #
      programablekey.2.xml_phonebook = 0
      remote_phonebook.data.1.name = ContactManager
      remote_phonebook.data.1.url = http://pbx.bundystl.com/cm_to_yl_ab.php

      Yea, I build a remote phonebook for every customer with Yealink phones. They love it.
      Sadly, Intermedia will re provision the phones every so often, and you can lose it all! This and the inability to program Park DSS keys in their host pilot are two of the main reasons I am desperately looking for a new hosted PBX solution (from the customer's perspective)

      You get the EPM for Sangoma by default. You have to buy the full EPM for all other devices. I believe it is $125 usd.

      Yes, and Sangoma restricts (chooses not to program for) what you can do with non Sangoma phones. The $149 (new) is not the issue, if it saves me 1 hour of time, it's paid for. But I don't want to tell a customer I can do X for them, only to find out I have to do it manually, because Sangoma decided to not support that through EPM.

      I've given up on EPM for anything complicated with non Sangoma phones.

      I get it, to a degree. there are just so many options. It would be much more than $150 + $25/year to make solid

      I saw in another thread that you maintain some scripts at github for freepbx. I am one who prefers to script everything, sometimes even for a onetime task because I love to learn.

      Maybe I'll check out some of your scripts and see if I can still pursue freepbx even without EPM.

      Do you find the FreePBX EPM to have any short coming with the Yealinks?

      Yes. In fact, I found and reported a bug about a Yealink function that the EPM implemented incorrectly.

      Sangoma's answer? They will not support it and will, in fact, remove the incorrect settings in a future update. Bug report closed.

      Hmmmm......This is not a path I want to knowingly embark on. Shame on them.

      @Dashrender said in Which Hosted PBX Provider?:

      Great thread, and super timely.

      I have a possible new client - they need 4 phones.

      Of course I could setup a FreePBX on Vultr for them, VOIP.ms or whoever for dial tone.... but I'm not sure I really want to manage it for them long term.

      I was debating pushing them toward a hosted PBX solution, flat monthly fee per phone, they need two DIDs (main line and fax line).

      Something like $10/m provide your own phone is what I was going to be looking for.

      My situation too.

      I am an Intermedia Reseller and I can't stand their system. Plus as a partner, the end user cannot call Intermedia for support. This is no fun.

      I just ran through a Ringcentral setup for one of our average customers and it is very costly. Comcast and Verizon are way less in price, and they will both give you the phones for free if you ask them. (Maybe Ringcentral will too, I haven't called them yet.)

      I looked at 8x8 through Ingram and it was a no go.

      I'm still looking, but I'm glad to see there are two us in the hunt now!

      Yealink and Snom are my top picks for FreePBX use. Polycom works but I really dislike it, so hard to manage, so inflexible. Sangoma is fine, but I would certainly not get it just because it is "made for FreePBX", that is a bit misleading as if it implies that the competition isn't also "made for FreePBX."

      Do you find the FreePBX EPM to have any short coming with the Yealinks? I keep reading that FreePBX allows much more control over the Sangoma than other brands, but that could just be a marketing comment.

    • RE: Blue light glasses

      We all wear them. Won't be around LED lights without them any more. Me, my family, co-workers, & friends......

      I have a long drawn out explanation and theory..... I'll give you the cliff notes version.

      We changed some bulbs in the house to LED and it was no big deal. We got a new PC at home with an LED screen and my wife started feeling like there was a migraine in her future, but it never came. Our kid's school went all LED in the gymnasium and after the first visit, my wife left with a terrible headache, and I was sore in the top of my eye sockets.

      It took a few weeks to figure it all out, but here is what our conclusion was; everyone has a different level of tolerance for LED lights; and it is cumulative! The sum total of all the LEDs I experience in a day only bother me a little, it only bothers my son a little, but it drives my wife into migraines.

      So after some reading, I found these Blue light filtering readers on amazon. I got a pair of 0 magnification for my son, a 1.75 for me and a 1.5 for my wife. We started wearing them only in from the computers screens (home, work, and school). It helped a lot. It stopped my wife's headaches outside the gym, but the gym was still a little much, so she wears them in the gym too.

      All the weird head achy feeling I was getting, my wife's migraines that started to flair up again, and my son's sore eyes after computer lab at school, are all gone. I've been telling people about them, and many people are now getting them because when they put them on, and can feel and see the difference.

      When I say feel better, I mean, if the LED was having ANY effect on you at all, wearing these really do make you feel better.
      If you weren't bothered very much at all by the LEDs, then you may not notice you feel better when you get away from these light until you start wearing these glasses around them. Remember what I said about the cumulative effect? It may take a day or two to realize they are helping.

      I hope this offers you some valuable insight. But even more, since you are asking about them, I hope you try them........

      Here's a link to the zero magnification:

      @JaredBusch Once you stop requiring companies deliver more than they are capable of or willing to, you'll find you aren't so unhappy.

      What you're doing is no different than getting mad because the six passenger car you fancy won't seat 7 people.

      Why are you out to get Skyetel anyway? First you were pissed they don't publish their partner rates, now you're pissed they need a cell phone to satisfy the business model they are currently operating with. If you don't like the way they operate, choose another provider. You live in a capitalist society...... You have options. And if you don't, build your own option; call it Buschtel.
