@scottalanmiller So having worked in large enterprise, how many copies of those emails would you suspect exist somewhere? How stinky is this pile of poo for you?

WOW! It's probably people like this that prompted Microsoft to add the "feature" of single-click to open. Working on computers that have that enabled drives me batty.

His writing comes across like he has a giant chip on his shoulder towards Amazon. I mean it's fine to call a spade a spade, but geez, have a little dignity.

    • RE: IRS Hard Drives Destroyed?

"Earlier this week, Ways and Means Republicans said as many as six IRS employees involved in the scandal also lost email in computer crashes, including the former chief of staff for the acting IRS commissioner."

Convenient... They sure have a lot of "computer crashes".

How dare you question him! He's been in IT...like...forever... Plus, he's an "IT Director". I really just hope his communication skills suck and not that he is actually like how he portrays himself.

Hard for it to be just communications skills. Arguing that the Internet was invented in 1998, many years after normal people were using it and decades after products we use were built for it is just crazy.

Yeah...you're right...there is no hope. Reading through his IPv6 thread now. WOW!

That's a very good article! It clarifies the differences in concise easy to understand terms. Definitely keeping this handy to give to people.

    • RE: How Many Devices Do You Use?

I just have 2 devices at home. A Nexus 4 and a Lenovo Thinkpad T60P. At work it's a plain ol' desktop (Optiplex 3010). I also have a 9" Lenovo tablet, but that's primarily my daughter's device.

    • RE: First Look at Apple Swift

Doesn't every new language do this? They take good things from other languages and apply it to theirs to work with the target ecosystem? Maybe it's not, but this seems to be held in a negative light. Maybe that's because they could have just used another language?

Good tips! I use most of those already, but the bookmarking is new. I'll have to try that out!

That's fantastic! Most are true for most of the (civil) engineers I know.

I went to school for manufacturing engineering. The mechanical and electrical engineers did not consider civil to be true engineering. Nor did the university. It was considered a lesser field.

Seriously? What's that about? The NCEES sure does as it has several PE exams for it. It may be more broad, but why would that make it not "true" engineering?

No Swipe wasn't my reason, screen size was and still is. I also prefer SwiftKey which allow swipe and claims to be the smartest keyboard yet! (I agree)

I too use SwiftKey as my primary keyboard on my Nexus 4. 80% of the time I'm swiping on it as it's much easier for me to do one handed. I'm glad that Apple is allowing 3rd party keyboards through their walled garden though. That's progress.
