I've been buying Elite desktops for a while now and I do see that by default they come with 3 years and the support personal don't ask questions when you seem to know what you are talking about - they simply send you parts or dispatch a tech.

Yes. You pay a little extra but they assume you are an IT department rather than an end user.

Yes. They just send the part with no questions asked.

Try hot white Vinegar. Place a rag on the spot and soak with hot vinegar...

How hot should the Vinegar be?

    • Remove Tree Sap from Car Paint

I bought one of my employer's REPOs yesterday and the car is in pretty good shape overall. However, I noticed that there is tree sap in various places on the body. The sap has been sitting a while, but I can work it off with my fingernail so I know it will come off.

I am looking for a cleaning product that is safe on auto paint and preferably some type of natural cleaner.

@aaron-studer There will always be a reason to have local storage.

I dont trust anyone to have complete backups. If they are really important files, you better have them stored locally, too. The likelihood of Google losing your data is slim to none, but its something to think about.

Ok. The GPO says it will work for versions 8,9,10, and 11. So one GPO should work

    • GPO to Force Compatibility Modes on IE 9, 10, and 11

I am looking for a GPO to force compatibility on all IE browsers. We are running 3 different versions right now on our network. Can I set this with one GPO or will I need to make 3 separate ones for each version?

@IRJ yep we do - there's discounts for non-profits, SpiceHeads, and depending on the size of the purchase there's some room there too. Let me know if you want to talk to a sales person and get a quote.

We have quite a few members. Let me find out a ball park number and maybe I can talk ball park price with a sales guy. I dont want to waste alot of their time or mine if its way out of our price range.

@aaron-studer Don't you use Sophos at work?

They usually allow you to install AV for home use as long as you have a valid license at work. We have licenses for 250 users, so we are allowed to register 250 for home use at zero charge as well.

      That's pretty nice.

We have the choice of using their Internet Server or our Sophos server. If you have employees that have access to secure data at home, its a really nice feature. We can make sure they stay up to date.

Apparently some banks and credit unions buy our software in bulk to give to their customers. It's cheaper for them to pay for AV software than the costs of identity theft overall.

@nic We are a credit union? Do you offer special pricing on this?

I was able to serach PDQ Inventory and find some instances of LogmeIn. They are looked to be IT related.

LogMeIn needs no local install nor admin privileges. How is PDQ searching for them?

      Apparently an agent is installed

An agent can be optionally installed. I use it both ways. You have to be an admin to install it. So by making people not be admins, you've guaranteed that PDQ will only find it when admins have installed it, not when normal people are using it.

That makes sense. I never really used Logmein.

I dont think its a big problem. None of our users have admin rights except IT. This includes the CEO and all the other Execs.

If that is the case, physically ask the IT staff what they have installed.

I already talked to my boss about it. He talked with the Executives today and they had some security questions or concerns. LogmeIn was mentioned, but the main thing was getting a better web filter.
