Vultr is running an awesome referral deal right now. I bought from the banner on the site to support ML and I got pleasantly surprised with $30 worth of credit for $5. You get $20 for signing up through a referral and additional $5 when adding money with paypal. I only added $5 and have a $30 balance.

RE: Preparing for the storm
We got really lucky that the storm weakened and went offshore a bit at the last minute.
At one point they thought it was gonna hit us directly as a category 5, but when it was all said and done it was a category 3 and it stayed offshore a little bit.
There's damage and flooding, but it could be worse. I gave no idea how bad my house is, but about 50 miles inland it isn't too bad.

RE: Doublecheck the Security of Your Linux
Just a couple notes from the article:
-
You cannot set a bootloader password for AWS or other cloud services
-
Apt Armor is specific to Ubuntu / Debian. SELinux is used on RHEL / CentOS / Fedora

RE: Silently take screen shots
Just to CYA you should probably get HR to open a ticket with exactly what they want so it's documented.

RE: Copying Content from other sources
This isn't right... This is the opposite of how intelligent people think. As professionals we should want to be challenged. Scientists, engineers, IT, etc all do better with challenges. If I am wrong about something point it out!
We are generally talking about making decisions with hundred of thousands or millions of dollars daily. Who the hell wouldnt want to be called out if they are doing something wrong?
So sick of this snowflake mentality where everyone's feelings matter. Fuck your feelings. There is wrong and there is right...

So does anyone know how to connect on online account to your windows 10 installation?
Yes. You will need the blood of a Lithuanian virgin, a grashopper's eyelash, and 10 grams of unobtanium. I'm assuming your Faustian deal with MS is already signed and valid, yes?
A man creating a Microsoft account and agreeing to terms in conditions during a Windows 10 install.

Managing Linux files for beginners
Great extensive article on managing files and folders on Linux. This article was written by Bill Kindle and shared on his LinkedIn profile. I came across it and thought I'd share here.

RE: What happened to the website?
I understand where the MangoCon organizers are going through. I have organized many events in the past and you wouldn't believe all the work that is done behind the scenes. It is especially difficult the first time you organize a large event like this. From my experience first time events like this tend to be the best events. Are there going to be hiccups? of course. However, the organizers are going to give 110% to make sure that everyone is happy.

Best call of the day....
We have a google link on our company intranet page that points to google.com. Apparently, since the site was redesigned yesterday there is no google link.
I just got a call asking how do we get to Google.com now?

Using Pertino for IT VPN Access
I have been testing Pertino the past couple weeks and I really like it. I was thinking it could be something that we implement for our IT department.
Does anyone else use Pertino? If so how do you use it?
Do you put just your tech PCs on the network and do all IT maintenance from a remote desktop connection? Or do you add some critical servers as well? -
RE: Win a ticket to MangoCon courtesy of Colocation America!

Oh whatever, AJ. MSE and Defender are fine.
I'm running Malwarebytes now. A malware issue didn't occur to me, since it's been like this since I started using it.
He's probably gonna try to sell you McAfee

Hey, but they took the time for some recognition. That's pretty cool.
It came out of my manager's personal pocket not our employer.
