RE: NG AV / Endpoint Protection in 2021
So in simple terms, people are saying dump the AV products like Webroot/Bitdefender/Eset and move over to a more SIEM orientated setup whether that's in house or externally managed (we wouldn't have the resources internally)
What about products like CrowdStrike, Cynet XDR, Mimecast. Does these fall into the SIEM realm? As they say they monitor machines for changes in system files/logs/other stuff for behaviour that looks like issues i.e. Virus/Ransomware.

Reading the NG/AV thread and getting confused

RE: Inexpensive laptop recommendations
One problem is for me the Inexpensive bit.... This is very dependent on wehat they call inexpensive. For me a mid range laptop would be £500-£600, but for some people they think more in the range of £300-£400.
I would start with a budget.
As someone mentioned Refurb could be a choice. -
RE: Need backup solution to replace Veeam
I moved from Veeam free to Nakivo free (we only have less than 1tb)
But seems good speed wise, not actually benchmarked it.But I like it at the moment.

Someone screwed up SAN failover switching, gasp, what a surprise.
Sorry for the snark while you're dealing with the aftermath.
Might not be 100% them, it might be due to the Dell Certificate issue as someone failed to update the switches before yesterday.

RE: Spreadsheet background image
Yeah i'm just copying the image to a new file and using gimp to add the values where i need them
Guess i'll get quicker at it the more i do it. -
RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
crying
Killed one of our dell switches last night, well can't ping/access it after a OS update.
Got our MSP looking at why some ESXi servers can't see the SAN as there was a 2nd switch. Can ping everything hosts & SAN but they're just not talking. they set it up so they can fix -
RE: Spreadsheet background image

Adding text is as simple as it possible can be, you click the T icon, and click where you want it. Type whatever, and then you can move it around if you don't like the exact placement.
I see what your saying but that's two extra steps, click the cell and just typing would be quicker

How often do you need to do this?
Not often at the moment, it's only really for diagnosis of boards when I need help
Just thought it would be a nice way of putting the data on to share. -

I'm assuming you're wanting to add notes, based on the yellow arrows.
/assuming
Nope I need to put in reading for all the coloured lines and arrows hence not wanting to have to manual add text boxes all over the place.
But it's looking like that's the only way.The idea of the excel was I could just click in the cell easily and just type the values

Spreadsheet background image
Need some help.
I've got an image that I need to write several values on, enough for me not wanting to do it in paint or other image tool and create box boxes etc.So I thought if I can add the image onto a spread sheet I can just write my values in the cells easy.
Well I can't get the image to add "under" the cells.
Any advice? I'm using Excel but happy to use anything, like OpenOffice etc
If I add the image as a background image it repeats itself.
If I add as a image it goes on top of the cells
This is an example of the image
