@garak0410 Try going into each AP and disabling all un-needed features. We've had a lot of trouble in the past year with meshing getting turned on after a controller update. Causes the APs to attempt routing between each other instead of the wire they're plugged into. Creates a network loop that packets never escape from.

Giving this a try this evening...

    • UniFi Wi-Fi Has No Internet

I had something weird happen to a UniFi network I manage that upgraded to a new ISP. I set this network up initially and never had issues with the WiFi portion of this UniFi network.

They upgraded to a fiber ISP after being on Cellular for the longest time because it was the only thing offered in the area. They wanted to keep the Cellular as a backup, so we added the wired WAN (Fiber) to the Pepwave Modem/Router and made it priority. All of that is fine.

      home_03.jpg

However, only our WIRED devices have Internet. I have two PC's there (one for IP cameras and one so I can remote into to troubleshoot issues). A few TV's are wired but every other PC, laptop, phone all rely on WiFi and there is NO internet and as a result, they get a 169 address.

On the UniFi network, the Wi-Fi network is connected to the network I named LAN and it points to the DHCP provided by the Pepwave Modem/Router:

      mango_01.jpg

The "Wireless" network uses LAN and the AP groups called Access Points which all pull a 50.1:

      mango_03.jpg

And here is a vew of all of the devices in the UniFi network...

      mango_04.jpg

What is interesting is the dependency on the AP called STORAGE ROOM.

(side note, ignore the BEACON Adoption FAILED for now...I am currently upgrading them to those but this issue has pulled me away from it).

I've done a lot of searching and I cannot for the life of me figure this out. The challenge...this is for or CEO and he is already upset (unfairly) at how long it has taken me on some projects for him personally (being the SOLO IT person for company too)...he is out of town until Monday afternoon but I only have remote access to his house until Monday morning. I can troubleshoot remotely...like I said, I have internet on the wired devices and he can see his port forwarded IP cameras but no internet for the Wi-Fi. Since he can see his cameras where he is now, he is happy and he doesn't know the internet to the Wi-Fi is down.

      Any other suggestions?

    • Facebook and Instagram Pages Won't Load on Domain Connected Windows 11 PC

I have a strange issue and if it weren't for needing to update Facebook and Instagram for work, it wouldn't be a problem. It sounds trivial but I do need to resolve it before others have the same issue.

I decided to get a head start on Windows 11 to begin using and testing it. I upgraded on my Work PC, Laptop and On-Call LTE Surface. On the laptop and Surface, I also did a CLEAN install after the upgrade but did not do a clean install on my WorkPC. My laptop and Surface are NOT DOMAIN joined.

On my Domain Joined work PC, I can no longer access Facebook or Instagram via Microsoft Edge. You type the URL, and the tab has a "spinning" indicator but the page never loads nor does it give an error...it will usually perpetually spin or just show a white page. I fired up Chrome and same thing but if you wait long enough it MAY load but mostly the same thing.

I've tried a different Edge Profile and even used guest and in-private mode. Same results.

If I disable the network card on this domain joined PC and go on the Wi-Fi (which is outside domain), Facebook and Instagram work fine. As soon as I reenable the network card on the domain, bam, it stops.

I went ahead and upgraded another, domain joined PC in the office (with a different PC name) to Windows 11 and tried Facebook and Instagram and they work under my profile. Just fine.

So I decided to clean install my work PC to see if something was gummed up. I joined my PC (under same PC name) to the domain, tried Facebook and Instagram and same problem. Pages just spin and spin and won't load.

I did take my PC off the Domain and tried to connect to Facebook / Instagram and the same...nothing. I drop off the hardwired network and to WiFi and it works.

Also, Google Sites are much slower to load.

So I am assuming it has something with my PC name on this domain. I am the IT Director and ONLY IT person here so it isn't like someone went in and blocked those sites.

Any clue? I often update our company's social media sites daily so it is inconvenient to move to a new PC just to do this.

@garak0410 sometimes I love it, sometimes... yeah, it's just a mess. What the heck is going on and any series that depends on the "alternative universe" angle I find just lazy and incompetent.

I did honestly like some of the "Talosians" episode especially the "retro" showing of the original Captain Pike...but up to then I was still confused on the timeline of when Discover took place...I thought the first Talosian episode would take place during "Strange New Worlds"...

I rewatch all the Star Treks except TOS and the cartoon about every two years. I need to toss TOS into the mix as well.

Voyager is definitely the most unintersting compared to the rest.

Voyager pretty much dropped their premise within the first half of the first reason and they were just a "Lost in Space TNG" for the last 6 season...there are many good episodes in there, especially BLINK OF AN EYE...and most "Doctor" episodes...but overall, it was a missed opportunity...

Season 1 was a fucking mess.
Season 2 was too much drama for no reason.
Season 3 is actually a decent show.

But if binged S1 then S2 and tried to jump in S3? OMG just no, I do not think I could take it either.

I will then approach Season 3 of DISCOVERY as a new show then. I just couldn't get past Michael and Book meandering around for the first 30 minutes or so.

I'm actually looking forward to STRANGE NEW WORLDS with Captain Pike.

TNG is definitely my #1. I grew up with the original series and I like it, but it isn't at the same level. But I really love the original series movies.

DS9 I only discovered and really enjoyed recently. I watched only enough to hate it when it first came out.

Voyager I really liked my first time through, but I think it was mostly nostalgia for TNG. Watching it again, it lacks something (a lot, really.)

I watched TNG's "The Emissary" last night and I so forgot how much slow, character driven stories are so much better than "all over the map" Discovery stories are.

@marcinozga Yes, sorry...PICARD will be in the middle (I edited my list) of the list because of how it did try to respect TNG and DS9 but turned Voyager upside down with the killing Icheb in the way they did. It didn't need to go so dark.

    • Anyone Struggling With Star Trek: Discovery???

I've been a lifelong Star Trek Fan. I've grown to love the ORIGINAL Series the best and for grins, this is my (live action) series ranked:

Star Trek - The Original Series
Star Trek - Deep Space Nine
Star Trek - The Next Generation
      Star Trek - Voyager
      Star Trek - Picard (Edit)
      Star Trek - Enterprise
      Star Trek - Discovery

I just completed the first two seasons of Discovery and got half way through the third season premiere and just had to stop and this is why:

      I feel Overwhelmed and Bored.

I am not only bored with the storyline but I am overwhelmed with how manic is it with not only the special effects but just the lack of focus. Is it just me or is the show a mess?

    • RE: Share From Synology Stopped Working

Thanks for the tips over the weekend...I am about to tackle this now...

      • Yes, both the NAS and Server 2012 R2 have been rebooted.

      • I just tried the FQDN of \archives.server.local and it takes me to the same login prompt that doesn't authenticate:
        archive_name_resolution_01.jpg

      • This only happens with the fileshare as the WebGui for the synology works fine.

      • It is on the domain. And users have rights to view it (only myself and a few others have write access)...those rights and permissions work fine if we get to the fileshare via \ipaddress
        archive_name_resolution_02.jpg

      • SMB Is enabled. Here are the Min/Max settings:
        archive_name_resolution_03.jpg

I save this for for last because it is resolved now...there were time discrepancies on both file server and Synology NAS that didn't seem to affect any other system here at work...I fixed them borth and file share is working now...

      Always the simplest right?

    • Share From Synology Stopped Working

I have Synology NAS we use for Archiving and all of a sudden it no longer let's you get to it from the DNS name in file explorer... it has a simple address: \archives\ ... but it just stopped working...you can still ping the DNS name (archives) and go to the web GUI at http://archives . But the file share ONLY works via the IP Address.

If you try to go to \archives\ you are met with this...

      archive_name_resolution_01.jpg

And you can't authenticate...but if you use the IP Address (\\IPADDRESS), it works fine and can get to the share...

Our DNS/DHCP is Windows Server 2012 R2 based...

It has been driving me batty but I'm sure it is an easy fix but can't seem to find it.

Craziest thing...that program called CONFIG TOOL just decided to discover everything...was able to find cameras, give them a proper IP, used the IP of the network card on the Milestone system as GATEWAY address and I am halfway through this converstion now... 🙂

@scotth So same as the private network or the domain network?

It is odd that it only finds the original 10 cameras and nothing that I add, even if adding to the original switch in the shop.

      @Dashrender

This was in place before I got here and as far as I can tell, no..I tried a DHCP explorer selecting the private network card and it didn't find anything....unless it is the original switch in the shop but it is an unmanaged switch...the network card for the camera network shows this...

      83abd0e2-d631-43dc-8d73-a018e792c4b7-image.png

I duplicated that on the new PC's second network card and it sees the original 10 cameras but nothing I try to add. I'm sure this is easy but the solution doesn't present itself yet.
